Personal Message
Hi! Want to learn the guitar? Or improve your playing? I have 17 years of experience and a passion to help people become better guitarists. I also teach some other stuff. Get in touch to discuss more.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
Guitar (acoustic & electric), English (language and literature), Phonetics, accents and public speaking, actor monologues and speeches
Tell me about your qualifications.
BA in English & Philosophy from University of Birmingham (2.1)
3 As at A-level (English, History and Economics) and a Distinction in Advanced Extension Award in English

1 year post-graduate diploma in professional acting from Drama Studio London
What kind of experience do you have?
17 years of guitar playing. I play lead guitar, as well as some bass and rhythm guitar in a 5-piece rock band.
I have taught guitar for about 5 years to children and adults alike.

I've taught English up to GCSE to children and mature students with a track record of improving grades.

My work with students on accents, phonetics and public speaking has included running workshops of up to 15 people, as well as marked improvements in the speech of various kinds of professionals.
How much do you charge?
I generally charge around £40, depending on the subject. I may add a few pounds for lengthy travel, and might offer discounts if there is more than one student.
Where do you teach?
I teach in London. I'm based in Streatham, SW London so generally teach around this area, but I do sometimes venture into central London and sometimes further afield. I also sometimes teach at my home (for adults, or accompanied children).
When are you available?
I am very flexible and teach all times of day and any day of the week.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and levels. For guitar lessons I would suggest no younger than about 6/7 years old.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
GCSE, iGCSE, A-level
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes, as of 2016
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I can tutor over Skype.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
Equity (performers' union)
Where and with whom did you train?
I was taught guitar by a teacher for around 7 years from the age of 13.
I trained in acting, voice and speech at Drama Studio London, an accredited drama school.
Tell me about some of your current students.
My current students include a singer-songwriter looking to improve his guitar technique and knowledge of chords. I'm also teaching a businessman from the Caribbean to soften his accent to a more neutral English sound. Both are making excellent progress.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Learning the guitar is one of the most rewarding things I ever did when my dad suggested we do it together many years ago. I love to share my passion for the guitar and music to new students - and it's never too late to learn!

For those looking for an English tutor or work on their accent or public speaking, I have a proven track record of making improvements. I take care to make sure students clearly understand the foundations or their subject and so can think for themselves and use the tools I offer to be self-sufficient.
