Personal Message
I am a friendly and engaging tutor privileged to share my passion for literature with people of all abilities, through private tuition and the study workshops I take into schools.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach English at all qualification levels from KS1 all the way through to GCSE, A Level and university education. This includes help with exam preparation as well as coursework related studies. I have experience of most of the texts on the syllabuses and also specialise in essay writing techniques and proofreading. I offer online tuition via Skype or email at discounted prices, please contact me directly for further information.
Tell me about your qualifications.
2:1 BA Hons English Literature - University of Westminster A Levels - As in English Literature, Law and General Studies, B in Psychology. 10 GCSE's - 6 A*s and 4 As including English Literature and Language, History, Music and Drama.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have been tutoring English Language and Literature for nine years beginning whilst still at university, where I worked as a teaching assistant in a secondary school as part of a work experience module in my first year. This involved assisting teachers in classes from Year 7 to Year 13.

The experience of teaching in the school inspired me to begin private tuition in the evenings as I began my second year of university, and with the exception of a little travelling in between I have continued to do so since. I spent nine months teaching English in South America and India between 2012 and 2013, and established my business Creative Learners in 2015, taking study skills workshops into schools and colleges around the UK with a strong focus on GCSE and A Level. Please see my website on this profile for more information.
How much do you charge?
My basic fees are: A Level £45 /hr GCSE £40 /hr
Where do you teach?
I am happy to travel to the student's home at no extra charge within zones 1-3, with just the extra top-up fare of oyster card travel for students outside of zone 3. Alternatively practical public places such as coffee shops and cafe's are fine, although from experience student's feel most at ease learning in their own home. I teach via Skype or email at a slightly discounted price on all tuition I offer, if this is of interest please contact me directly for more information.
When are you available?
I am very flexible and can generally tutor most weekday evenings, and Saturday mornings to early afternoon also. If for some reason I ever have to reschedule a learning session I will always give plenty of notice and reschedule for a day that week that best suits the student.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and all levels in English.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
11+, GCSE, A/S Level and A Level.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes.
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I am happy to arrange face to face lessons via Skype and will always be available via email to provide additional support.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Ensuring my students have a fun and enjoyable learning experience is central to my teaching practice, as this is the best way in which they can build upon their understanding and knowledge of their subjects. I believe confidence is the key to all learning and progression with a subject, and the right mix of dedication and enthusiasm leads to consistently high results for my students.
