Personal Message
As a qualified teacher and lecturer of eight years I have had the privilege of supporting hundreds of learners in achieving their goals. I have a passion for learning, teaching and supporting people in becoming more independent.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
My specialist subject is English literature, language and linguistics which I have delivered at levels ranging from KS3 to Access for eight years. I am also confident delivering tutoring in history, media studies and education.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I graduated from the University of Sunderland in 2009 with a first degree in English Studies. I completed my first PGCE to teach A Level through Teesside University in 2012. I returned to the University of Sunderland in 2015 to complete a Masters Degree in English and completed a PGCE for secondary schools the following year.
What kind of experience do you have?
My first experience of teaching is at A Level completing a PGCE, working as student literacy support and also working as an agency lecturer writing and delivering my own short course to second language speakers. Since specializing for secondary schools I have delivered KS3 to A Level at Boldon School, Harton Technology College, Red House Academy, Farringdon Community Academy, St Joseph's Catholic Academy, Burnside Business and Enterprise College and Sandhill View Academy.
How much do you charge?
At present I charge a flat rate of £20.
Where do you teach?
I tutor from my home however visits to students can be arranged.
When are you available?
Generally I am available in the evenings between 5pm and 10pm to book appointments.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach KS3, 4, and 5, and undergrad level.

I teach from the age of 11 upwards.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Previously, I have prepared students for the GCSE English literature and language specifications on the AQA exam board.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes I am fully registered with the disclosure and barring service.
Where and with whom did you train?
I trained to teach with placements at New College Durham for my first PGCE for 16+ and Boldon School and Harton Technology College for my second PGCE for secondary schools.
Tell me about some of your current students.
One of my students is currently studying on the AQA GCSE English Language specification; we have been working with one another for 3 months. In that time he has improved from a low to mid level four to a low to mid level five and is on track to achieve a mid level five in his GCSE. This will give him the entry requirements needed to move onto his level three engineering BTEC.
Do you have a personal message for students?
I look forward to working with you and helping you achieve.
