UCAS Personal Statement
Tell me about your qualifications.
Camilla Otaki has A-Levels in English, French and Music (1983) and a degree in English and Social Anthropology from Cambridge University (Trinity College, 1989), as well as twenty-five years' teaching experience.
What kind of experience do you have?
Camilla has taught young people in reputable independent schools and has been a GCSE English examiner. Having worked as a private English tutor in the early 1990s, she refounded Otaki Tuition in 2010, since when she has taught pupils from a wide range of educational backgrounds.

Her pupils routinely report improved grades, greater confidence and heightened enjoyment of the subject. GCSE and A-Level predictions are met or exceeded, while younger pupils are enabled to combat problems to ensure their progress at secondary level.

Pupils have gone on to study at excellent universities such as St Andrews, Cambridge, Warwick, Bangor, Exeter, Durham and Bangor.

She currently teaches young people aged 9 to 18, from a variety of schools across the Medway towns (Chatham, Gillingham, Strood, Gravesend, Maidstone) and beyond, as well as a number of adults who are returning to education or brushing up their skills.

Much of her work comes via personal recommendation.

Exam results are strong across the board.

Camilla has recruited a highly-skilled specialist in Voice (see above and website).

Where and with whom did you train?
Camilla Otaki is the third generation of teachers in her family, and there are teachers on both sides of her family. Teaching itself was her training: immersed in schools and giving private tuition for many years, she has learnt on the job from colleagues and from extensive experience.
Tell me about some of your current students.
Much of our work comes from personal recommendation.

We are equally happy to teach late developers and those who struggle with academic work, as we are to work with high-fliers.
