About Esther
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching so far for 10 years. My students have an excellent pass record in grade exams. I have taken pupils through their exams from grade 1-diploma level.
I teach and have knowledge of a wide range of reportoire in genres such as folk, classical, pop, blues, jazz and more. So if you just want to play for fun I can make sure to keep you busy with lots of music to get your teeth into.
Along with my partner I set up St Albans String Tuition in 2015 and we teach a wide variety of instruments, mainly from our home in St Albans.
I also have many years experience in performing. I first picked up a violin aged 3 and have been trying to get people to listen to me play ever since. My most recent projects have been playing as part of an Irish folk band, performing at functions as a string duo, doing a run at the Edinburgh Festival as part of a band with a poet and as part of a string orchestra for a Bristol Old Vic production of Coram Boy.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes I do have an up-to-date DBS certificate.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I am a graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, learning with Richard Crabtree, Jon Thorne and Mark Braithwaite. I learnt violin under the instruction of Ramil Rashidov.

- Tell me about some of your current students.
My youngest pupil is 4 years old, then I have pupils entering various levels of grade exams and adults who are just learning for fun. One of my pupils has just got into a school on a music scholarship for which we put a recital programme together.

Esther has been teaching my daughter for a few months, and she has made great progress. She makes learning fun for the student and very clear to the parent on what to practice and how to monitor the child's practice.
I highly recommend Esther as a teacher.View more recommendations
