Personal Message
I'm a professional flautist with a passion for teaching. I am a strong believer in the positive influence of learning a musical instrument, and I aim to help my students develop a passion for music along with developing the confidence to perform.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach flute, piccolo and alto flute. I can also coach small wind ensembles, so if you are preparing for an exam or are just learning for fun I can help to guide you through the repertoire.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have an MMus (Distinction) in Flute Performance from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, a Licentiate Diploma in Performance (LTCL) from Trinity College London, and a BA (hons) Degree in Music from the University of Sussex.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching privately since 2006
How much do you charge?
I charge £30 per hour, or £15 for half an hour.
Where do you teach?
I usually teach from my home in Brighton, but I can travel further afield to areas such as Shoreham, Lewes and Hassocks if this is more convenient.
When are you available?
I have some availability most afternoons/evenings and weekends. I aim to find a regular time for each student which is convenient for them.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I can teach all ages and levels.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I can prepare students for ABRSM or Trinity Guildhall exams. I can also prepare students for entrance exams for university or music college, including the junior colleges.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes
Where and with whom did you train?
I trained with Rowland Sutherland at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and with Anna Noakes, Lynda Coffin, and Alan Baker at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. I also studied privately with Karen Jones.
