Personal Message
I am a freelance flautist and flute tutor. I am deeply committed to deliver bespoke tuition to all of my students. I have 12 years of teaching experience... I teach all ages and standards (beginner - advanced).
Which subject(s) do you teach?
Flute, piccolo, fife, (beginner - advanced)
Recorder

Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Masters in Music with Distinction from The Royal Northern College of Music. I did my Bachelor of Music at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. At both conservatoires I specialised in flute performance. I have an ABRSM Teaching Diploma in the principal teachings of flute.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching for 12 years now and enjoy it very much. I am very experienced teaching flute beginners (8 years - adult), mixed ages (grades 1-8 standard) and teenagers and adults that are advanced (post grade 8 / Diploma standard). I also tutor children on the recorder up to grade 3 standard.

I currently teach at The Young Music Makers School (Highgate) and Putney High School.

100% exam pass rate for all my students.

For my private pupils I organise regular concerts and book a professional accompanist so students can grow in confidence and always have something positive to strive for. Parents and friends are warmly invited to all concerts and it's a wonderful occasion for everyone.
How much do you charge?
£ 20 / half hour

£30 / 45 minutes

£40 / hour
Where do you teach?
I teach from my studio in Godalming, Surrey.
When are you available?
Due to the nature of my work I can be flexible. Some students choose to have a fixed slot every week, whilst others may prefer to schedule lessons as we go.

Cancellation or the rescheduling of a lesson requires a minimum notice of 24 hours, otherwise the lesson needs to be paid for.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and abilities.

I recommend that children are at least 7 years old when taking up the flute. I have lots of experience teaching adult beginners too, it's never too late!
I teach beginner level - post grade 8 standard, for example - students that go on to take diplomas and teenagers that need help preparing for Music College or University auditions.
I teach recorder for small children, 5 years+
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

GCSE and A Level performance preparation.
Music College and University audition preparation.
Diploma assistance.
Help with all recital and ensemble coaching of any kind.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

Safeguarding training through Putney High School and Wandsworth Music Service.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I freelance with orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, British Sinfonietta and various London freelance orchestras including Orpheus Sinfonia, Southbank Sinfonia and the London Contemporary Orchestra.

I am a member of The British Flute Society and ISM (Incorporated Society of Musicians).
