I am a capable, competent, conscientious language teacher with a professional attitude. I have been teaching languages for over 25 years with an excellent track record. Examination candidates have done exceptionally well and been thoroughly prepared.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach French and English. I can help children and teenagers who are writing GCSE French. English is taught as a second language mainly, with emphasis on CAE, and FCE exams. I teach Business English and IELTS too.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a BA in French and English from Rhodes University, South Africa. My Higher Diploma in Education is equivalent to the PGCE. I also have a Cambridge CELTA qualification to teach EFL.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have over 25 years experience teaching French and English in secondary schools. EFL teaching has been my passion for 7 years now.
How much do you charge?
I charge £20 per hour. I will do a free taster lesson in order to see whether we are a good fit and to carry out some form of assessment.
Where do you teach?
I teach at home in Hollingdean, Brighton. It is easily reached by bus as it is near Fiveways.( Buses 50, 26, 46 ) If you prefer to have lessons in your own home I am able to travel in the main Brighton and Hove area.
When are you available?
I am available every weekday evening from 5 - 7 pm. I am also available on Saturday mornings from 9 - 12 pm.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach children, teenagers and adults. Key Stages 2, 3, 4 and GCSE French. EFL English to teenagers and adults. FCE and CAE exams in particular.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have an up-to-date DBS certificate.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I have had many students over the years and I am still in contact with some of them. They've always found me to be friendly, fair and very approachable. I am firm, encouraging and able to motivate through offering dynamic, interactive lessons.

I will do my best for you. I will analyse your needs and ensure that you reach your goals. Learning will be fun and you'll be surprised at what you can achieve.
