Personal Message
I help with all aspects of studying - understanding difficult topics, essay planning and exam skills. I am a patient and enthusiastic teacher and particularly enjoy helping demoralised or struggling students turn things around.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
History, Politics, and Sociology at A-level.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a degree in Modern History and Politics from Keble College, Oxford, and have taught at private colleges and FE institutions for the last eight years.
What kind of experience do you have?
I've been a private tutor for the last eight years. I also currently teach A-level classes in History and Politics at a private college.
How much do you charge?
£40 per hour, or £70 for two hours. The price is the same for groups of up to three students.
Where do you teach?
At the students' homes, within Zones 1 and 2 in London. Most of my students are in Islington and Hackney, but I'm usually able to travel further afield.
When are you available?
Evenings, afternoons and weekends.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
All of my students are doing A-levels, so they are 16+. I will occasionally help undergraduates with study skills.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I help students with A-levels in History, Sociology and Government & Politics, including the OCR, Edexcel and AQA exam boards.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes, I have a full, current DBS certificate to work with children and vulnerable adults.
Do you have a personal message for students?
I tutor because I love my subjects and really enjoy helping people grow in skill and confidence.
A-level students need well-organised notes and plenty of exam practice to do well in the summer, so my lessons concentrate on these areas.
I often work out an action plan with students – it’s empowering to have a manageable week-by-week schedule so that you know you’re on track.
