Personal Message
Having lessons on the harp is an essential as it is such an intricate and unusual instrument to play. If you do decide to learn you will quickly begin to take pleasure in such a wonderful instrument.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach the harp and theory. I usually combine the two but if theory needs special attention then a separate lesson can be arranged.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a BMus (Hons) degree from The Guildhall School of Music and Drama and a Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in performance from the Royal College of Music.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have been performing for many years now and have had master classes with some of the best harpists in the world. I have been teaching for around 7 years now and have had excellent results. Often my students achieve distinctions and top levels in competitions.
How much do you charge?
I charge £35 per hour for beginner and intermediate and £40 for advanced. If you do own a harp and would prefer me to travel to you I will have to charge extra for travel time.
Where do you teach?
I teach at home on my own harp but if you would like me to travel to you so I can teach you on your instrument that can be arranged.
When are you available?
Lessons will be arranged week to week but hopefully a weekly time can be arranged.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages at beginner, intermediate and advanced.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes I do. i currently have an up-to-date DBS certificate
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
The Musicians Union
Where and with whom did you train?
I have trained at the Royal Northern College of Music junior department with Eira Lyn-Jones and Professor David Watkins. I then continued my studies at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Manon Morris and Charlotte Seale. I studied with Daphne Boden at the Royal College of Music.
Do you have a personal message for students?
I started learning the harp at the age of 8 and I have never stopped loving it, and I hope through teaching that I can pass this love of the instrument on.
