Whether you want to learn the instrument just for the fun of doing something new, or you would like to work up to exams, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me!
Which subject(s) do you teach?
French Horn
Tenor Horn
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with a BMus Hons in Classical Horn performance. I am currently studying for my MMus at the Royal College of Music.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching adults and children privately since 2014. I have worked for the Barking and Dagenham Community Music Service and Royal Borough of Greenwich Music Hub, and I'm currently employed by Arts First Islington Music Hub as a brass tutor. I am also the brass teacher at Frederick Bremer Secondary School in Walthamstow.
How much do you charge?
I charge £35 for an hour and £20 for half an hour. I do not charge any fees for travel.
Where do you teach?
I am able to teach at the homes of students. I currently live in Stoke Newington, London and plan to stay in this area for the foreseeable future. I cycle to teach, so the areas I would mainly stick to are Stoke Newington, Stamford Hill, Dalston, South Tottenham, Seven Sisters, Clapton, Hackney, Dalston, Bethnal Green, Shoreditch, Homerton, South Hackney, Aldgate, Stepney, Mile End, Whitechapel, City of London, Islington, Barnsbury, Canonbury, Highbury, Holloway, Finsbury Park, and Manor House.
When are you available?
I am available Monday-Thursday after 17.00 and would generally teach someone at the same time every week, although I ask for a small amount of flexibility from week to week as projects may come up at college that I am unable to miss.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I am able to teach all ages.
I can teach French Horn from a beginner level to an advanced level.
I can teach Trumpet, Cornet, Tenor Horn and Trombone from a beginner level to roughly grade 5.
I can teach Piano at a beginner level.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I am happy to teach students just for the fun of learning a new instrument, so exams aren't always a necessity!
For those who would like to work through graded exams, I am familiar with both the ABRSM board and Trinity Guildhall board. I have also led students through diplomas.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have DBS certificates through the Barking and Dagenham Community Music Service and the Royal Borough of Greenwich Music Hub.
Where and with whom did you train?
I studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Jeffrey Bryant, Jonathan Lipton, Christopher Parkes, Richard Bissill, David Pyatt, and Alec Frank-Gemmill. I am currently studying with Simon Rayner (Royal Opera House), John Ryan (London Philharmonic Orchestra), and Tim Jones (London Symphony Orchestra).
