About Louise

- What kind of experience do you have?

2016 results: A'level history results in: 93% of students gained A*-B. Of those 60% were A*- A. 100% of all students achieved a minimum of a C. English Lit results: 75% A*-B, of those 60% A*-A. 100% achieved a minimum of a C. When not tutoring, I lecture for the OU in law and support a tutor group of 20 students. I taught history in a private senior school for three and a half years in Oxfordshire before moving to the Staffordshire/Shropshire borders four years ago. I worked as a supply teacher and then started tutoring full time three years ago. I tutor GCSE, IGCSE AS and A2 history; A2, AS, IGCSE, GCSE English Literature; IGCSE, GCSE and CIE A'Level English Language;A2, AS, IGCSE and GCSE business studies and undergraduate law. I also assist with undergraduate studies, especially dissertations, where they have gone on to obtain top grades at University. My 2015 A'Level candidates have achieved some very pleasing results, both those retaking, who improved by a minimum of two grades and those taking AS and A2 for the first time. 90% of all candidates achieved grades A-C (of this 50% were A-B). Of this, the majority were history candidates, and around 15% were other subjects. My GCSE results were very similar, 95% achieved A*-As and the 5% who didn't had recognised learning issues but still were able to obtain passes to get onto the courses they wanted. This repeats the success of my candidates from previous years, 2014 and 2013. I am a current and experienced A'level examiner and senior GCSE exаminer in histоry for OCR. I have also been recently appointed to the history 'remark' panel for OCR for A'Levels and GCSEs for the June 2015 sitting.

Essay writing, planning, source analysis and evaluation are my areas of expertise in history and therefore I can provide the tools required to excel at Edexcel, AQA and OCR papers. I am currently teaching Edexcel, OCR and AQA at AS and A2 (new and old syllabus)

For English, I can help with essay writing, comprehension, poetry and prose appreciation covering classics, Chaucer, Shakespeare, Marlowe, Webster, 19th and 20th century literature and contemporary poetry. I am currently teaching AQA, Edexcel and ICE at GCSE/IGCSE and AQA, CIE, OCR and WJEC spec at AS/A2.

For Law, I mainly support undergraduates with their research and essay writing skills: my preferred areas of teaching are: Family, Criminal, Contract, EU, Tort, constitutional and administrative and jurisprudence.

I am fully booked for this exam season but am now taking bookings for September onwards. I do get booked up quickly so, its a good idea to enquire now rather than leave it until the last minute.

I hаve а Masters degree in lаw, postgraduate qualification in accountancy аnd twо bаchelоr degrees in lаw аnd histоry.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I work via Skype or FaceTime during daytime and evening hours five days a week.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

I have a 'can do' attitude to teaching, and like to focus on building confidence in pupils in their ability, as from my experience as a teacher, if a student is confident, suddenly the things they found difficult become surmountable. One of my areas of interest is to support pupils at both ends of the spectrum, those who have learning challenges such as dyslexia and dyspraxia and those who are identified as 'able and gifted'. I also obtain excellent results from pupils who are considered 'average' which quite frankly, is not a label I would use with any student! All students have talent and it is my job to unlock their potential.
