About Rosie
- What kind of experience do you have?
I am a Year 6 teacher and Literacy Coordinator at a Welsh medium school in Blaenau Gwent. I have also previously taught in secondary schools up to GCSE English, Maths and Music in North Wales and
at a leading academy in Westminster, London. I have also worked tutoring adults in Ontario and have many years experience teaching instrumental and music theory lessons.

I am an experienced tutor working in the Abergavenny area. Happy to teach up to GCSE standard. I teach one-to-one and am happy to travel to students' homes within reasonable travelling distance, or will teach from my home.
I prefer to teach face-to-face rather than via Skype and firmly believe in a positive, welcoming learning environment. I usually spend the first lesson just getting to know you and finding out what your academic strengths and weaknesses are. After that, lessons are personalized and geared towards what you need to learn to achieve your goals.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Welsh (first and second language), English (lit and lang), Music and Maths up to GCSE level. This includes Maths through the medium of Welsh.
I am also experienced as a tutor to adult learners in literacy and numeracy.
I teach all primary subjects.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a bachelor's degree in Music from Durham University and a Masters in Business Management. I qualified as a teacher through a PGCE (bilingual in Welsh and English) at Bangor University. In addition, I trained in teaching adult literacy and numeracy at the North Bay Adult Literacy Centre in Ontario, Canada.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £20 for an hour long session and £10 for a half hour.
- Where do you teach?
I will teach from my home in Abergavenny. Alternatively, I am willing to travel to Brynmawr, Merthyr Tydfil, Cwmbran or Hereford (at a non-rush hour time).
- When are you available?
I am available (depending on location) from 4.30pm - 8pm on school nights. I do not work during school holidays or weekends.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach from primary to GCSE. I am happy to teach adults who wish to improve their literacy or numeracy skills.
