Personal Message
I'm a 4th year medical student at the University of Leeds and have been part-time teaching for the past 7 years. I absolutely love helping people progress in something that they really enjoy - I can't say how rewarding it is!
Which subject(s) do you teach?
Music: Piano, flute and music theory

Academic: GCSE biology, chemistry, physics and maths. A-Level Biology

I also can help with applications to medical school such as interview technique, reading CV's and just general preparation.
Tell me about your qualifications.
On the music side of things, I completed the ABRSM syllabus when I was 14 years old and started teaching from then onwards.

I also achieved 13 GCSE's including 10A*s and went on to study A-Level biology, chemistry, physics and maths before studying medicine. I have been GCSE and A-Level tutoring for the past 4 years.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have been privately music teaching for the past 7 years to students of all ages, ranging from 4 to 60+ years old.

During a gap year between A-Levels and university, I worked full-time as a teaching assistant at a secondary school. I spent the majority of time helping students working towards their GCSEs - it was great fun and also the reason why I decided to start GCSE tutoring as well.
How much do you charge?
My hourly price is £20. For music tuition, especially with younger children, I find that half-hour sessions tend to be more constructive and less tiring (helps maintain 100% attention). I do normally teach through holidays but understand that it may be inconvenient for those who go to school so can be more flexible around holidays (as long as they keep practising!)

I own a car and so can travel to students' homes with a small extra fee for petrol.
Where do you teach?
I am based in central Leeds but can travel all around Leeds.
When are you available?
I most teach during the weekends but have some availability during the week.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
Piano and flute beginners to grade 8

Music Theory to grade 5

GCSEs - all stages up to the final exams
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
ABRSM graded syllabus.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
As a medical student it is mandatory that I have an up-to-date DBS certificate.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Music is something that will stay with you forever - once you start to learn, you'll become hooked!

My only advice is you'll get out of it as much as you put in - practicing is key! You'll be amazed by how much of a difference it makes to your rate of progression.
