Personal Message
I am an experienced grammar school teacher and I provide high quality specialist tutoring in physics at GCSE and A Level, as well as KS3 science. I am able to prepare students for their examinations with a view to achieving top grades.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I provide high quality specialist tuition in physics to ‘A’ Level, IB, IGCSE and GCSE level as well as KS3 Science.

I am able to offer support and advice on applications for university courses and personal statements. I have been a supervisor for the EPQ (extended project qualification) and as such I am able to review and advise on students’ EPQs.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have qualified teacher status and my qualifications include a BSc Hons in physics (Queen Mary College, University of London), and a PGCE in secondary science/specialism physics (Institute of Education, University of London).
What kind of experience do you have?
I am a qualified physics teacher with fifteen years' experience teaching and tutoring within both the state and independent sector. In addition to the many and varied schools at which I have been employed, I have taught at grammar schools in Kent and an outstanding girls’ school in Westminster, London. Most recently, I have taught general science at KS3, and physics at both GCSE and A Level at an Ofsted rated ‘outstanding’ grammar school. I have led a physics department in a girls’ grammar school and I have been responsible for the implementation of physics at ‘AS’ and ‘A’ Level following changes to the curriculum and specifications. I have a track record of successful exam results for my students.

My aim is to make physics accessible and enjoyable; to identify the needs of the student and tailor teaching and learning to their specific needs; build and reinforce their confidence with an emphasis on examination preparation so that students are able to realise their full potential and achieve excellent results.
In the past I have facilitated the learning of students so that they are able to achieve the high grades at GCSE and ‘A’ Level necessary for university courses at Oxford, Cambridge and the Russell Group universities. I have inspired (female) students to study astronautical engineering and motorsports engineering, amongst other disciplines.

Former students include ‘A’ Level students wishing to pursue careers in veterinary science, medicine, physics, engineering and maths who need to achieve top grades in physics and those applying for university courses at Russell Group universities,
How much do you charge?
I charge £50 per hour for KS3, GCSE, IGCSE, IB, AS Level and ‘A’ Level tutoring.

I offer the first session for free so that you are able to sample the quality of tutoring being offered.
Where do you teach?
I prefer to tutor from my own home in the outskirts of Canterbury, but may be able to tutor some students in their home. Tutoring from my own home allows me to access the many resources I have developed or acquired during the many years I have been teaching; I use these resources to ensure a high quality experience is provided for the student. As I am currently teaching and tutoring high ability students, I am familiar and up to date with all the AQA, Edexcel and OCR specifications. As an experienced grammar school teacher, I am ideally placed to give excellent, accurate advice on how to achieve the highest grades. I concentrate on practising exam technique and have a wealth of practice questions, papers and exercises.
When are you available?
I am available during the day on most weekdays, at weekends and during the school holidays and can be flexible with arrangements if necessary. I will always try to accommodate students’ needs.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
KS3, GCSE, IGCSE, AS Level, ‘A’ Level and IB
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
AS Level, A’ Level, IB, IGCSE and GCSE physics (all exam boards)
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have an enhanced DBS check and Quality Teacher Status.
Where and with whom did you train?
I studied BSc (Hons) physics at Queen Mary College, University of London and completed my PGCE at the Institute of Education, University of London.
Tell me about some of your current students.
My students include those studying physics at ‘AS’ and ‘A’ Level wishing to pursue careers in physics, medicine, engineering and maths who have achieved ‘A’ or ‘A*’ grades in physics and those applying for university courses in the sciences, engineering and maths at Oxford, Cambridge as well as the Russell Group universities. I have also taught and tutored GCSE physics and double award science students.

I have taught and tutored students with additional educational needs (including autism spectrum condition and dyslexia - my own son has both, so I am fully able to understand these students needs).
Do you have a personal message for students?
I am a highly experienced, approachable and successful teacher of physics and I offer high quality tutoring in physics at GCSE, ‘AS’ and ‘A’ Level. I have many years’ experience teaching and tutoring within both the state and independent sector. My aim is always to enthuse and instil confidence in my students so that they can realise their full potential and achieve excellent results. I am available on some weekdays during the week, evenings, week-ends and during the school holidays.

I tutor from my own home so that I have all my resources and software available to me during a tutoring session. I am a qualified and highly experienced teacher and as such I am knowledgeable about the different course specifications of the different exam boards and I am ideally placed to give students accurate advice on how to achieve the highest grades. I take a personal interest in all the pupils that I teach and I can always be contacted outside of lessons to give help and advice when needed. I work with other experienced and highly qualified chemistry and biology tutors and would be happy to put you in contact with them.

At the moment I have slots available for the summer and September so do not hesitate to contact me either by phone or email to discuss your needs further so that we can design an individual tutoring programme. I look forward to hearing from you.
