Personal Message
I am a full time, professional science tutor, with experience tutoring a range of ages and abilities. I am friendly, patient and have a good sense of humour! I am married to an Anaesthetist and we have two children.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I tutor all three sciences at GCSE level and Biology at A-level.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I graduated from Newcastle University with a BSc in Medical Microbiology and Immunology (First). I then went on to complete an MRes in Medical and Molecular Biosciences (distinction) and a PhD in Molecular Biology.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have been tutoring and mentoring students since my time as a postgraduate student at university. I have tutored all ages and abilities, but specialise in tutoring A-Level Biology. Most of my students go on to study Medicine, Biosciences or Physiotherapy at university. As my husband is a doctor, I have insight into medical school applications and exams.
How much do you charge?
For 2017/2018 my fees are £25 for GCSE and £30 for A-level. It is sometimes more appropriate for A-level students to have 1 hour 30 minute lessons, the charge for this would be £40.

I offer a 10% discount on block bookings of 8 or more lessons, if paid for in advance.
Where do you teach?
I predominantly teach online as I have two children. However, I am able to tutor in-person on a case-by-case basis.
When are you available?
Lessons can be booked between 9.30am - 3pm Monday to Friday (term time only), 8pm - 9pm Monday - Thursday and between 9.30am - 12.30pm on Saturdays. Popular time-slots fill up quickly.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach mainly A-level students, but am more than happy to teach GCSE/IGCSE if I have availability.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare students for GCSE/IGCSE and A-level exams.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have a full enhanced DBS certificate and I am registered for the update service.
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
Tutoring takes place via Skype, with all lesson materials e-mailed to the student in advance of the lesson. Other than a computer with a good internet connection, microphone and webcam, no other equipment is necessary. Headphones are useful, but not essential.
Tell me about some of your current students.
The majority of my current students are preparing for either AS or A-level Biology, with the hope of studying Medicine, Biosciences or Physiotherapy at university.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Luck favours the prepared mind!
