Personal Message
I am a former physicist working on innovative research in quantum computing and have been working full-time as a self-employed private tutor for the past 4-5 years.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Mathematics and Physics.
Tell me about your qualifications.
B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Exeter (2003), an M.Sc. in Nanotechnology from University College London (2007) and, what was initially a Ph.D. became an M.Res. in Quantum Information Science in Diamond from the University of Bristol (2012).
What kind of experience do you have?
I have been tutoring full-time for the last 4-5 years and gained over 2000 hours of experience working with small groups in schools, one-on-one with students who really struggle, one-on-one with students who excel and everything in between. Sessions have been conducted face-to-face and online.
How much do you charge?
I offer group online tuition at the following rates:
1 student - £45 per hour
2 students - £60 per hour
3 students - £75 per hour
4 students - £90 per hour
5+ students - £20 per student per hour
Where do you teach?
I tutor from home and located in Clifton, Bristol, Avon

I have an up-to-date Enhanced DBS Certificate
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I ask that the student arrives 5 mins before the scheduled session time. This allows time for technical organisation and troubleshooting.
I use BitPaper as a whiteboard tool for conducting the lessons. This provides an inbuilt video and audio feed. I strongly advise all students use a web camera, which allows me to look for cues of their understanding and attentiveness.
An option but not a necessity is using a graphics tablet. I use one as a matter of course, which allows me to write real-time on the whiteboard. A student my find the session more interactive if they also have the opportunity to write.
Downloadable PDF files will be available for all the material generated in-session. I also offer the option of recording the sessions, should re-watching be beneficial.
