- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
- I tutor by pre-arranged time using Skype and Scribblar web-collaboration service- these are generally free to use for the client (except for my tuition fee of course).
It only requires a desktop, laptop or tablet with the Skype app loaded and a reasonably good internet connection speed for the session.
We agree a day-time for the session and I txt by sms to your phone just before to initiate the lesson. Payment is usually by Bank Draft (BACs) or Paypal. - Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- Member of Institute of Physics.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- I obtained my Degree at Edinburgh University as a mature student.
I passed my PGCert in IT (with distinction) at Napier University. - Tell me about some of your current students.
- Most of my students are mainstream school leaving (higher and advanced higher) and some I have given tuition in earlier years.
I am familiar with SEN requirements if relevant. - Do you have a personal message for students?
- It is of the utmost importance that the student gets all the support and encouragement to advance their career and enter further/higher education in their chosen fields. Any tutoring I give will always put the student’s interest first above all other considerations. I will also encourage the student to look further than the restricted options in the curriculum and take a genuine academic interest in their subject.

My Testimonials
I was more than pleased with Tom. He is conscientious, worked hard at his own preparation and even managed to make the lessons enjoyable for my boys... I've never heard them laugh in a maths lesson before now! - GCSE Maths - Jean in Biggar |
Just to let you know we are delighted that Louise passed and she has got into her uni----her school weren't going to let her sit and said she would fail but with your help she didnt so thanks again--kind regards. - Maths Higher - Avril from Broxburn |
Course taught purely by tutor. Not a subject taken at school. Considering the limited teaching time was very pleased with the result. Would definately recommend this tutor for physics. - Higher Physics - Judith in Penicuik |
After having a few questions about some GCSE level physics, I looked for local tutors and found Tom. He was very good in explaining things to me and adapted to my way of learning very quickly. He spent several hours with me preparing me for an upcoming test and made sure he covered all topics he thought may come up. I would highly recommend! Much appreciated, Dillon. - Dillon in Armadale |
Thank you for all your tutoring over the last year (advanced Higher Physics), it was most appreciated by Greg and all of us. Tomorrow (exam) is the big day if you require recommendations i have no problem in recommending you. - Joyce in Biggar |
