About Steve
- What kind of experience do you have?
Steve has been teaching for 14 years in secondary schools/academies. Currently he is teaching in his fourth establishment. Leema has taught at one secondary school for over 10 years and Liana for 15 years. We have taught all age groups (Y7-13) and all ability groups, from high achieving students to those with special needs. Our roles involve teaching of general science at KS3 (all topics), similarly at GCSE. Steve has taught A-level Physics every year so far with some experience of teaching IB Physics and has previously been Head of Physics for several years. Due to the high level maths required in physics teaching he is also able to tutor maths up to GCSE level, with potential for certain maths topics at A Level. Leema has plenty of experience teaching A-level Chemistry. Our private tutoring experiences are substantial over the past few years, having successfully tutored students at GCSE and A level - the feedback we have had is always positive and until now have gained students from word of mouth recommendations.

- Where do you teach?
We are based in Dursley which is well within travelling distance of Cam, Wotton, Stroud, Thornbury, Tetbury, Uley, Charfield, Kingswood, Coaley, Frocester, Frampton, Berkeley and other surrounding villages. Some possibilities around Yate, Winterbourne and surrounding areas. We can teach lessons at our address but can travel to the student's home depending on location - this can be discussed on individual basis.
- When are you available?
Generally weekday evenings, weekend mornings - during school holidays this becomes more flexible to any day of the week but preferably mornings/evenings.
We do not usually take block bookings and work on a week-by-week basis, although once a student is regularly taking lessons it can generally be at the same time each week. Flexibility is appreciated on occasions due to other commitments such as parents evenings/late meetings/family holidays etc.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
Please see "which subjects I teach" above.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
We are familiar with many exam boards (e.g. AQA, Edexcel, OCR, IB) and although the style and content can vary from one board to another, the subject is still the same so we have no problem adjusting and preparing for any particular course. We can supply resources such as past exam papers, question sheets, printed power point slides etc. although it is sometimes useful if the student can obtain some of these from their school and bring along to lessons (simply just for time and efficiency as we may need to search if it is not an exam board we are currently using in my school). If the student has their own textbook and/or revision guide that is useful.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Leema tutored my son for GCSE Chemistry this year - in which he went on to achieve an A Grade. She was always well prepared and has an excellent knowledge of the syllabus, helping my son to organize and plan his work. She was friendly, professional, flexible and supportive and really put my son at ease. I have no hesitation in recommending Leema for Chemistry tuition.
Steve tutored my son leading up to his GCSE's and was always polite, punctual and friendly. He always prepared for each tutor session to make sure my son got the most out of tutor time, focusing on aspects that my son specifically wanted to go over, as well as the general GCSE Physics syllabus. Steve was flexible and accommodating and I have no hesitation in recommending him as a Physics tutor. My son went on to get an A grade which he is very pleased with.
I would thoroughly recommend Steve's tutoring skills. He supported my daughter through her GCSE Physics in a calm and methodical way. Thanks to Steve her confidence in the subject grew and she sailed through the exam.
Highly recommended tutor! Steve is an excellent tutor and he was a massive help during my Physics A Level. Knowledgeable, patient and friendly, I couldn't recommend him enough! Thanks Steve!
