I am a very experienced performer and teacher of oboe and piano based in the Brighton/East Sussex area.

I teach piano, oboe and music theory.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have GRSM (Hons) - First Class; ARCM - performer oboe; Dip RCM - teacher oboe; Dip RCM - teacher piano
What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching for over 25 years, including 10 years at Roedean School, 5 years at Brighton and Hove High School, East Sussex Music Service, St. Swithuns Winchester, Royal Alexandra and Albert School and music schools in Germany and Portugal in the native tongues.
I have held full time positions in orchestras in Portugal and Gran Canaria. I have also freelanced with major orchestras and toured with Moscow City Ballet. As a pianist I regularly accompany pupils for exams and concerts and have performed solo piano at hotels, including The Grand Brighton. I have also got experience of directing and accompanying choirs.
How much do you charge?
I charge £35 an hour and £17.50 for 30 minutes to children and adults.
Where do you teach?
I teach mainly at my home in Peacehaven, which is situated on the coast road between Brighton and Eastbourne. Pupils come to me from Hove, Newhaven, Lewes, Seaford, and the East Sussex area. Pupils coming from further afield can take a train from London to Brighton via Croydon, Gatwick and Haywards Heath, then take a bus to Peacehaven.
When are you available?
Daytime and evening by appointment. I also teach at weekends and during school holidays if mutually convenient.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach beginners to advanced on both instruments - children as young as 5 to adults.

I went to the Purcell School, specialist music school, and the Royal College of Music including junior department. Oboe - Sarah Francis, Michael Winfield; Piano - John Barstow; Post graduate studies in Germany at Hochschule fuer Musik Wuerzburg - oboe with Jochen Mueller-Brincken.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I teach a lot of 5-10 year olds at Brighton and Hove High School juniors. I use Theory for Beginners by Lina Ng as they love the colouring in and stickers, but it is educational as well.
Do you have a personal message for students?
I enjoy teaching and can adapt to different age groups. If you want to learn in 2015, contact me. I look forward to hearing from you!
