Personal Message
Hello, I'm Clare. If you are looking for enjoyable and rewarding lessons, then take a look at my profile, and feel free to ask me any questions.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach piano, harpsichord, and theory.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I studied at the Royal College of Music, and worked for A.B.R.S.M for many years.
What kind of experience do you have?
Throughout my career, as well as performing, I have taught at The Purcell School of Music for over 15 years, other schools in London, and currently teach at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. I was also an examiner for A.B.R.S.M for over 10 years, as well as being a mentor. Some of the most rewarding teaching has been my private practice.
How much do you charge?
I charge £35 per hour or £17.50 per half hour.
Where do you teach?
I teach at my home in Musselburgh (Edinburgh) East Lothian
When are you available?
I am available to teach in the evenings and some day times.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach beginners to diploma level, and all ages.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
A.B.R.S.M exams, or any other exams required.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I belong to E.P.T.A.(European Piano Teacher's Association)
Where and with whom did you train?
I studied with Bernard Roberts (Piano) and Ruth Dyson (Harpsichord) at Royal College of Music.
After leaving college I was awarded an arts council scholarship to further my studies on the Harpsichord with Trevor Pinnock.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I am preparing students for A.B.R.S.M. exams and auditions for music college.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Throughout my career in teaching I have found that I get the best results when lessons are as enjoyable as possible. Laying the foundations of a good technique shouldn't prevent learning from being good fun.
