Personal Message
I am an experienced performer and teacher; my teaching environment is one thats enjoyable and open minded, with emphasis on building strong aural skills as well as a high level of pianistic or vocal technique and strong theoretical knowledge.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach classical piano, classical/popular singing and music theory. I also do vocal coaching for singers and actors, audition technique for actors and monologue work.
Tell me about your qualifications.
Currently, I am studying BMUS Classical Piano at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, with Christine Croshaw for three years, the late Simon Young for one year, and now with Havilland Willshire and collaborative piano with Eugene Asti. Classical singing is studied privately with Steve Silverman and harpsichord with Steven Devine. I have grade 8 piano with distinction, grade 8 classical singing with merit, grade 8 popular singing, grade 5 theory with merit and A levels in music, drama and english literature after studying at Coopers Company & Coborn School and Sixth Form. Additionally, I currently have a 100% above average pass rate with ABRSM examinations with my students.
What kind of experience do you have?
Claire has extensive experience as both a pianist and a singer. In 2012 after performing in a masterclass at school, she was awarded scholarship lessons with concert pianist Richard Meyrick, then shortly after received her place at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. Claire is currently under the tutelage of Eugene Asti and Havilland Willshire. Claire has played and sang at various events in London and Essex, including Drapers' Hall, Painters' Hall, Wax Chandlers' Hall, Mansion House and The Royal College of Surgeons for the Worshipful Company of Coopers', St Johns Smith Square, Blackheath Halls and Regents Hall. Claire has also performed for HRH Prince Edward with National Youth Music Theatre, at the Rose Theatre, Kingston. Within Trinity, Claire has reached the final of The Leonard Smith and Felicity Young String and Piano Duo Competition 2017 with violinist Olivia Holland and has been highly commended in The Elisabeth Schumann Lieder Competition 2018 with soprano Charlotte Levesley. Claire won The English Song Competition 2018 with mezzo-soprano Charlotte Diamond and The Lillian Ash French Song Competition 2018 with soprano Hope Lavelle. Most recently, projects have included The Debussy and Beyond Festival 2018 at Trinity with tenor, Sam Jewison and Venus Blazing, a celebration of female composers, with soprano Hope Lavelle, which included a recorded performance that was featured on Trinity's website of "Anne Boleyn", from "Try Me, Good King" by Libby Larsen. Claire performs regularly as a function and collaborative pianist and also works as a musical director, with choirs all over London. Claire will be musical directing the upcoming "Bossy" Forum showcase in July, showcasing female artistic talent. Claire has additionally played on the live X-Factor shows, accompanying singers such as Holly Tandy and been a regular backing singer, with the likes of Che Chesterman and Louisa Johnson. Claire is furthermore an enthusiastic harpsichordist and has won Trinity Laban’s prestigious Raymond Russell prize for Harpsichord and the British Clavichord Society scholarship for lessons and loan of a clavichord, as well as already playing for many of Trinity’s own ensembles such as their premier String Ensemble, conducted by Nicolas Pendlebury and Baroque Ensemble, conducted by Walter Reiter. Claire also has a strong interest in Musical Theatre as well as opera & song, and regularly works at some of the top institutions such as her own Trinity Laban, The Drama Centre and Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. She is a member of National Youth Theatre, an actor musician alumni of National Youth Music Theatre and trained at Junior Guildhall drama under opera librettist, Alisdair Middleton.

Claire teaches over sixteen pupils regularly alongside her busy freelance career and studies, in a private studio. The studio is separate from her home and is equipped with an upright acoustic piano, full length mirror for singing lessons, bose speakers for listening exercises and backing tracks, double manual harpsichord and a waiting room for parents and guardians. Her exam pass rate for theory, singing and piano is 100% and for piano and singing exams, it is 100% above just a pass.
How much do you charge?
I charge £22 for half an hour, £44 for an hour, with a charge of £5 extra if I come to your house. No group lessons given and my rates are charged per student.
Where do you teach?
I currently teach in Upminster in Essex from my studio beneath my house; I cannot travel to people currently as my travelling time slots are fully booked, unless it is for a one time lesson e.g. preparing for an upcoming audition. I also occasionally teach from Cutty Sark, Greenwich. Please ask for more details if you are interested.
When are you available?
My current teaching days are on Saturdays or Tuesday evenings in Upminster and week days in Greenwich and surrounding areas.
I can also give short notice one time lessons if I am available, e.g. for auditions/upcoming exams.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
Anyone from the age of seven for piano and age nine for singing. Acting any age.

Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I do these lessons for occasional piano or singing lessons if people have their exams and I cannot get down from where I live in London during the week, or can do this for theory lessons more regularly.

I am part of Incorporated Society of Musicians, a member of Equity and a freeman of the Coopers Livery Company.
