Personal Message
I am an experienced performer and teacher; my teaching environment is one thats enjoyable and open minded, with emphasis on building strong aural skills as well as a high level of pianistic or vocal technique and strong theoretical knowledge.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach classical piano, classical/popular singing and music theory. I also do vocal coaching for singers and actors, audition technique for actors and monologue work.
Tell me about your qualifications.
Currently, I am studying BMUS Classical Piano at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, with Christine Croshaw for three years, the late Simon Young for one year, and now with Havilland Willshire and collaborative piano with Eugene Asti. Classical singing is studied privately with Steve Silverman and harpsichord with Steven Devine. I have grade 8 piano with distinction, grade 8 classical singing with merit, grade 8 popular singing, grade 5 theory with merit and A levels in music, drama and english literature after studying at Coopers Company & Coborn School and Sixth Form. Additionally, I currently have a 100% above average pass rate with ABRSM examinations with my students.
What kind of experience do you have?
Claire has extensive experience as both a pianist and a singer. In 2012 after performing in a masterclass at school, she was awarded scholarship lessons with concert pianist Richard Meyrick then shortly after received her place at Trinity Laban Conservatoire (formerly Trinity College of Music). Claire has played and sang at various events in London and Essex, her most reputable being for the Coopers Livery Company annual Common Hall Dinner for three years in a row (2012 -2014). Claire's orchestral debut was with the Trinity Laban symphony orchestra on Britten's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" on the harpsichord and celesta and she regularly accompanies choirs in London or takes on freelance musical directing work. She has performed at venues such as Royal College of Surgeons, Drapers Hall, Painted Hall, Wembley Stadium and St John Smith's Square and worked regularly as a rehearsal pianist for many musical theatre projects at conservatoires such as The Drama Centre (part of Central Saint Martins), Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and her own conservatoire, Trinity Laban. Claire's most reputable choir conducting work was with London-based choir, "Enchorus", who have performed with the likes of Sam Smith. Her most recent vocal project's include performing at Regent's Hall & Charlton House in London with the Hawkesmoor Wind Ensemble, for a performance of Mendelssohn's "Midsummer Nights Dream", singing as one of six in the Fairy Chorus and appearing on the live X-Factor shows numerous times as a backing vocalist, both at the X-Factor Studios in Wembley and at Wembley Stadium for the live final. Claire has recently won the English Song Competition prize at Trinity Laban with mezzo-soprano Charlotte Diamond.

Claire specialises in Baroque music and Collaborative piano, but has a vast knowledge of all styles of classical music. Her degree also includes lessons in conducting, musical historical studies, applied practical theory and arranging and orchestrating music.

Claire's largest teaching achievement to date is vocal coaching Helena Dowling, who after receiving coaching from Claire specifically for the role, got a part in the 2014 UK tour of "Soul Sisters". As mentioned, Claire is largely interested in theatre and acting and often tries and incorporate this aspect into singing lessons. In 2014, she was given an actor musician role in National Youth Music Theatre's 2014 production of "The Ragged Child", performed at the Rose Theatre in Kingston with five star reviews. Claire has also trained at Junior Guildhall drama for two years and National Youth Theatre 2017.
