Personal Message
I am a British tutor, author and academic, with degrees from the universities of London, Jerusalem, and Cambridge.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I tutor in History, Politics, International Relations, Middle Eastern Studies, English and Hebrew. I am, however, happy to consider all enquiries within my general areas of interest, and experience. I am also available for dissertation consultation, proofreading, and help in exam and essay writing. In addition to one-to-one and online tuition throughout the academic year, I also offer intensive tuition during school and university holidays, which both tutees and parents find particularly useful for preparation, consolidation of knowledge and, if need be, to get a tutee back on track. For peace of mind, I have an enhanced DBS check.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a BA (Hons) in Jewish History from University College London; an MA in Social Sciences from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where I was awarded both a Golda Meir Fellowship and the first Mikardo Scholarship awarded by the British Foreign Office; an MPhil in International Relations, specialising in US and UK Foreign Policy, from the University of Cambridge, where I was awarded a Donner Prize in Atlantic Studies and a PhD in Israeli Foreign Policy towards Iran, Turkey and Ethiopia during the Cold War, from King's College London.
What kind of experience do you have?
A former Teaching Fellow at King's College London, I have taught MA courses on the Arab-Israeli conflict, US and British Foreign Policy, War and Peace in the Middle East, and Inter-Faith Relations. A fluent Hebrew speaker, I was Peer Tutor in Hebrew at University College London, where I was awarded the departmental prize for excellence in Hebrew, and I have tutored privately in Britain, and abroad. Author of 'Israel and the Cold War: Diplomacy, Strategy, and the Policy of the Periphery at the United Nations' (I.B.Tauris/Palgrave Macmillan, 2013), I write for several academic journals and newspapers, and review for the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House. I have tutored privately abroad, as well as in Britain, and have an immensely successful record with my tutees. My tutoring style is relaxed, interactive, theme-based, and multi-disciplinary. I pay particular attention to a student's self-confidence, and self-expression, which often serve as catalysts for enhanced self-belief and, hence, success. My website, which can be found at the top of the page, has a review section, where you may read a greater selection of testimonials.
How much do you charge?
I charge £100 per hour. For tuition outside London, travel arrangements will be confirmed before the first session. Group, and block booking discounts can be discussed.
Where do you teach?
I travel to tutees' homes, or similar suitable venues. I am based in Hendon, and can travel to all areas of London. I will consider tutoring requests outside London, and abroad, and I tutor online.
When are you available?
I tutor every day of the week, and offer intensive tuition throughout school and university holidays.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I tutor all levels, from the age of 14 upwards.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
GCSE, AS, A2, Degree, as well as the casual learner.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes. For peace of mind, I have an enhanced DBS check.
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I tutor via Skype, Facetime, phone and e-mail
