Personal Message
I am Richard and am a full time teacher for Computer Science with 14 years experience, having taught in Further and Higher Education in Sixth forms and FE Colleges.
I am Grade 5 piano and can teach from beginner to grades 3/4 and also KS3 Maths.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach AS/A2 Computer Science (for the new curriculum I have set up a VLE at college) and vocational BTEC Units such as U22 Games Development using Game maker and U14 Event Driven Programming. Also I teach Internet Website Design U28.
We currently use Visual Studio 2012 integrated development environment and use VB.Net code, but I can also teach C, C++ and C#. I can develop your skills also with java, javascript with use of latter technologies such as AJAX, and other library code.
I am well versed in the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) which is important as generally for exam boards only 20% of assessment is for coding.
My AS/A2 Computing results are above the cross country average for a non selective and mixed cohort of students.
I like to differentiate teaching resources as much as possible, including interactive apps such as Socratiive, an online test and assessment tool
Tell me about your qualifications.
I attained a BSc Hons Computer Science in 1996 which included a final year project about software synthesis for music modelling.
I went on to develop for a teaching qualification in Bolton where I attained a PGCE FEHE which I subsequently developed to gain QTLS status during my teaching practice, and am a member of the IFL (Institute for Learning). I then studied part time during full time teaching to attain am MSc Internet Application Development which has helped me to deliver client and server side scripting for n-tier web site architectures (web sites), using java, java script and coding with VB.Net with come C++, C# experience. For my thesis I developed an Interactive e-Learning environment using a full project life cycle (SDLC).

I try and engage students with realistic targets and mixed differentiated learning resources to meet learning objectives, and have some fun hopefully, particularly
with programming routines, and where possible try and plan sessions with interactive content.
