About Roisin

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have tutored adults and children for three years specialising in English Literature and Language. I have a variety of 7+, 11+ and 13+ experience, having tutored students for entry to The London Oratory, Laytmer, St Michael's, Henrietta Barnett and St Albans.

I am a secondary school teaching assistant and cover teacher.

I teach my own integrated literature and play course designed to engage teens with Shakespeare (most recently at St Paul's Girls' School and St Michael's Catholic Grammar School).

I am an assistant director and mentor at the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

Yes.

- Tell me about some of your current students.

Ali (7 years old)
Ali is dyslexic and struggling with numeracy and literacy. Kinesthetic learning and creative writing proved to be the best tools for getting Ali to enjoy his studies and grow in confidence. He is now top in his class for Maths and has been able to re-join his peers for English lessons.

Janey (15 years old)
Janey is now beginning year 11 and is aiming for an A* in her English GCSE. When we began in year 10 she was on a C but concluded the year with an A. She has discovered a flair for creative writing and poetry analysis.

Ozge (18 years old)
Ozge was wavering between B and C grades at the beginning of A2 and struggling with essay construction in particular. We soon boosted her coursework to an A* and Ozge was thrilled to gain an A grade in her English A level this summer.

Monica (35 years old)
Monica has lived in the UK for eight years but was struggling to communicate as fluidly as she would like in professional situations. We have spent the past year enjoying exploring the highly idiomatic nature of the English language, refining her writing style and broadening her vocabulary.
