Personal Message
My teaching focuses on the technical aspects of clarinet and recorder playing with an emphasis on performance and ensemble playing.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
Clarinet: Classical (Grades 1-8)
Clarineo: For students who are not big enough to hold and play a standard size clarinet. (Exams can be taken up to grade 3 and then transferred to a normal size clarinet)
Recorder: Beginner method and up to grade 5 standard.

Theory Exam Preparation (Grades 1-5)
Tell me about your qualifications.
In 2009 I graduated my Bachelor of Arts in Music (with honours) at Colchester Institute: Centre for Performing Arts, accredited by the University of Essex.

I continue to study music as personal professional development (PPD) gaining professional awards and certificates to improve my practice and teaching.
What kind of experience do you have?
I graduated my music studies with honours at Colchester Institute, where I studied with British clarinettist Charles Hine, and composer Jeffery Wilson. I have established myself as a clarinet tutor and performer, providing opportunities for learners of a wide spectrum of abilities to work together and explore the world of music. A keen ensemble player, I joined the membership of European Clarinet Association in 2015.

I teach students of all ages and abilities, from my home in Colchester and teach clarinet on an Uebel Preference Professional model; students who are too small to play the clarinet, are offered lessons on the Clarineo, which is a smaller and lighter instrument to play.

Clarinet students of all abilities are given the option to be part of a clarinet ensemble. The ensemble performs regularly in our bi-annual concerts.
How much do you charge?
I charge £30.00 for hourly sessions and £15 for thirty minute sessions.
Where do you teach?
Lessons are taught from my home in Colchester on my Uebel Preference Professional model.

Which ages and levels do you teach?
Clarinet: all abilities and ages.
Clarineo: is used up to grade 3 standards for exams, all ages.
Music Theory: up to and included grade 5, all ages.
Recorder: beginner method, up to, including grade 5, all ages.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Qualifications and examinations are not the sole focus of my teaching, instead favouring the application of good musicianship and practical method including performance preparation and exploration of core repertoire.

Should students want to further there study via use of graded music, I use the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) as a template curriculum.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have a DBS certificate, with no convictions listed.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am currently a member of the Musicians Union and the Incorporated Society of Musicians. As a clarinettist, I have full membership to the European Clarinet Association, the Clarinet and Saxophone Society of Great Britain, The British Clarinet Ensemble and the East Anglian Single Reed Choir.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Learning a musical instrument is a fun experience, nurturing discipline, concentration, and social skills through sharing the experience with others.
