About Leo
- What kind of experience do you have?
I am a fun and enthusiastic teacher with over 10 years of private teaching experience, from beginner level to grade 8 standard and beyond. I have experience with all ages and musical abilities and have always had fantastic results. In this time I have prepared students for Jazz and classical graded exams, prepared students for music conservatoire auditions, taught jazz improvisation and theory, worked on aural training and have taught general theory and harmony.
In addition to private tuition, I have worked for Barnet music service, teaching in 5 schools as a visiting woodwind teacher providing lessons from 1:1, small group, large group and whole class tuition. I currently teach woodwind lessons at a school in Hampstead.
I have also lead various workshops in schools in the Barnet area, coaching small and large jazz and soul ensembles.
I have extensive experience as a performer and have travelled all over the world playing at venues and festivals. I have been fortunate enough to work with some highly acclaimed musicians including:

I teach saxophone, both jazz and classical, and can teach theory, harmony and improvisation and prepare students for further education.

I have Bmus (hons) in Jazz Performance from Trinity College of music: 1st class honours,
In 2012 I was awarded the TrinityLaban award for jazz achievement.
I have grade 8 saxophone with distinction
I have grade 8 clarinet with distinction
I have grade 5 flute with distinction
I have 3 A Levels: Music Technology, Music, Philosophy & Ethics
- How much do you charge?
I charge £40 p/h and £30 for half hr.
- Where do you teach?
I teach at home in Whetstone, Barnet. I have a teaching room suitable for making lots of noise! I also offer online lessons.
- When are you available?
I prefer to teach on weekdays but can be flexible.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and all abilities.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
If the student wishes we can do graded exams. Students can take Associated Board or Trinity Guildhall exams. I can also prepare students for further education and music college auditions.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
Learning a musical instrument is a fun and rewarding thing to do. Playing music is a way to express yourself and should be fun, whether it is jazz/classical/folk or pop! I make my lessons fun and aim to inspire my students as they inspire me!
