Personal Message
I am an experienced science teacher and examiner with a Master's and Doctorate in chemistry, specialising in online tuition.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I provide tuition for all sciences at GCSE/IGCSE level, A Level chemistry, and International Baccalaureate Diploma Chemistry.

I am very experienced with the AQA, Edexcel, CIE, OCR and IB specifications and have a huge bank of resources (notes, questions, revision guides etc.) which I provide for free.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), a PGCE in Chemistry (Newcastle University), a PhD in Organic Chemistry (Durham University), and a Master's degree in Medicinal Chemistry (University of Manchester).
What kind of experience do you have?
My professional experience has been developed through my roles as a qualified teacher of science, a private tutor of chemistry from school to degree level, and as an examiner for GCSE, A level and International Baccalaureate Diploma chemistry.

My students consistently achieve excellent grades, enabling them to study top-flight degree programmes such as medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine at leading universities.

In 2017, 80 % of my A Level students achieved an A* or A grade, 100 % of my International Baccalaureate students achieved level 6 or 7, and 100 % of my GCSE students achieved an A* or A grade.

Some of my recent student destinations include the Royal Veterinary College, Manchester University, Edinburgh University, Cambridge University, Oxford University, Imperial College, Durham University, Queen Mary (London), Newcastle University, Leicester University, Bristol University and King's College, London.
How much do you charge?
I charge £50 per hour for GCSE and IGCSE, £50 per hour for A level and International Baccalaureate, and £70 per hour for university tuition.
Where do you teach?
Due to its effectiveness and convenience, I now tutor online using Skype or Zoom.
When are you available?
I am a full-time professional tutor, so am 100% focused on my students all the time.

During term-time, I work:
Weekdays 9am - 8pm
Saturdays 9am - 5pm

During school holidays, my hours are:
Weekdays 9am - 6pm
Saturdays 11am - 5pm

Please note I have a 48 hour notice period for cancellations or rearranged lessons.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I tutor school students between the ages of 13 and 18, and university students.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare students for Common Entrance exams (13+), GCSEs/IGCSEs, A levels, and the International Baccalaureate (SL and HL) exams.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have a clean and up-to-date enhanced DBS.
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I tutor online using either Skype or Zoom (both free and easy to use). I share documents with students through Google Drive and Google Docs and use an interactive whiteboard (Scribblar) with a digital pen so that students can see my working. Students can also write on the whiteboard so I can check their answers and monitor progress during lessons.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Society of Chemical Industry.
Where and with whom did you train?
I trained to teach with Shotton Hall SCITT, one of the country's leading ITT providers (source: The Good Teacher Training Guide 2015)
Tell me about some of your current students.
Thanks to the advantages of online tuition, I get to work with students all over the world! My current students are based in the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Turkey, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Ukraine and USA.
Do you have a personal message for students?
My tutoring is personalised to your individual needs, helping you to build confidence and master difficult topics at a pace that is right for you.

As an examiner, I have intimate knowledge of the exam system and understand how to achieve top grades. I will give you resources and strategies that will improve both your theoretical understanding, and your exam technique. I will also give very detailed feedback so that you know exactly where you are, where you are going, and what you need to do to achieve your target grade.
