About Shereen
- What kind of experience do you have?
I am a professional actress. This year I have been working on 3 ITV series and an NBC/Universal pilot. Last year I was in the West End, before which I was working at the Royal Court Theatre. I have worked extensively as an actress since leaving RADA in 2002 in theatre, television and film. My first job was playing Juliet for Josie Rourke, artistic director of the Donmar Warehouse. I then went on to the RSC where I worked with Sean Holmes, artistic director of the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith. I have since worked at the National Theatre with director James McDonald, an associate at the Royal Court until 2007, among others. I played Viola in Twlefth Night in the West End and then went on to work with multi award winning film director Peter Kosminsky on the BAFTA award winning 'Britz'. I've worked with Thea Sharrock, theatre and film director and have enjoyed parts in TV including The Loch, Vera, Midsomer Murders, DCI Banks, Eastenders, Doctors, Lewis and several one off mini series for ITV and Channel 4.
Most importantly, I teach alongside my work and therefore bring a wealth of current knowledge of the industry. I hope to pass on to my students something of what I've learned from my training at Rada and from all the talented directors I've been lucky enough to work with.
I also love teaching English as a foreign language to young children. I use drama games and more traditional ways to help my students learn in an immersive and fun atmosphere that is never boring.

When I started working with Shereen, I had no idea of just how incredible the experience would be. Not only did she help me really unpack my chosen audition speeches, Shereen completely changed the way I approach and consider text. I've found that after working with Shereen, my appreciation and understanding of drama is exposed in a new light—something incredibly exhilarating and encouraging for an aspiring actor.
In the past I've found that my self-consciousness sometimes gets in the way of my work, but Shereen was able to tackle my hang-ups and teach me ways to overcome those fears, even to use them to add depth to my speeches.
Seeing Shereen made me excited to dig in deeper and do more work, to push myself beyond what I thought I was capable of—and every time I needed reassurance that I wasn't mad for wanting to be an actor, Shereen was there.I cannot express just how much I appreciate her guidance and leadership, or her friendship. Not only did I leave Shereen having secured a place at LAMDA, I left with a greater understanding of myself, confidence to push myself, and a beloved mentor. I have no doubt that without Shereen's guidance I never would have gotten as far as I have, nor would I be so confident and eager to tackle the next chapter.
I approached Shereen through the Tutor Pages when applying for drama school requiring assistance on the two monologues I would perform at audition. She advised me on suitable audition pieces, and guided me through ways to pick ones out in the future...
..She then analysed the text in a way I previously had never seen done, explaining how to decipher thought patterns and the underlying issues of each speech.
She taught me breathing exercises which I now use whenever rehearsing, and have made my voice clearer and stronger.
On top of this she also made me feel confident in my abilities as a performer. I would recommend her to anyone.Working with Shereen has been incredibly helpful. I've been able to identify both my strengths and weaknesses and find what methods work to bolster them. The support I've been given hasn't felt formulaic, but personal, and the work and exercises we do individualized. Yet I also feel that what I've accomplished is my own. I haven't been told exactly what to do, but been guided into making such discoveries that I might not have on my own.
...I went for help on preparing for auditions, choosing pieces, working on them, filling out applications, which I received wonderful support with, but I also feel I've grown as an actor. I don't feel just prepared for auditions, but more prepared for the actual prospect of drama school.
Shereen is the most inspiring, encouraging, talented and caring teacher that I have ever had. She takes a very supportive approach and has helped me to understand my strengths and weaknesses, encouraging me to challenge myself to develop into a more confident, self-assured and truthful actress...
..In preparing for my drama school auditions, Shereen helped me to choose two suitable monologues. She takes a very holistic approach, so we worked on bringing the material to life through exploring the text and character through voice, physicality and imagination. Without Shereen's support I would have undoubtedly been too consumed by apprehension to apply to the top drama schools. I am so grateful to Shereen for always believing in me and I would recommend her to every aspiring actor.
