About Lucy
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching singing for ten years, to singers of all levels. Some have gone on to study music at university, others have simply become confident enough in their singing to maybe do a solo with their choir, or indeed, join a choir.
I also perform and am always looking at improving my own practice, keeping myself interested and engaged in vocal progression.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes

I believe you should enjoy your music making and believe that a free, natural voice is the most beautiful way of singing. My aim when teaching is to help you achieve this, whatever genre you sing.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I mainly teach singing and come from a classical background. I have experience in teaching students interested in all genres, whether for exams in classical, musical theatre or rock and pop, or as something more for fun or confidence building.
For composition and theory students, my Master's was in both performance and composition, with input from both classical and non-classical composers.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a BA from Royal Holloway, University of London and an MMus from Newcastle University. I also studied at Conservatorio di Benedetto Marcello, Venice.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £40 per hour (Trial lesson is £30)
£140 for four hour-long lessons.
- Where do you teach?
I teach privately from home in Hove. If you've been thinking about having lessons because you love singing and want to improve or just to see if you're better than you think you are, get in touch!
- When are you available?
I have a few after work weekday sessions available, or in the daytime on Mondays and Fridays.
I occasionally run small group theory lessons on Saturday mornings.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
All levels from age 11 up.
