About Jessica
- What kind of experience do you have?
In Education:
I have been teaching 1-to-1 and group lessons in all of my subjects for over 5 years in Primary and Secondary schools and privately. My students always achieve a minimum of Merit grade in ABRSM examinations.
I am the vocal coach for the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, preparing students for gigs, directing the vocal ensemble and giving workshops in jazz theory, sight reading, composition and arraging. Many of these students are currently studying jazz performance at prestigious London colleges.
I was Music Co-ordinator and teacher at a four-form entry Primary School where I taught all ages, ran choirs and bands and directed school musicals.
I am a visiting workshop leader and performance director at top-rated Ofsted schools across the city.
In Performance:
I perform regularly throughout London and around the country, notably in venues such as Ronnie Scott's, Pizza Express Dean St, The 606 Club, Wakefield Jazz Club and The Brunswick Club Bristol. I have also sung on Radio 3, Sky Arts and The Entertainment Channel.
I have sun and played in ensembles led by John Rutter and Phillip Scott in venues such as Snape Maltings, Birmingham Symphony Hall and Sadler's Wells.

Yes I have an Enhanced CRB and receive annual training in Child Protection.

I have experience teaching all ages (3-83!) and specialise in children 7-18 and young adults.

Professional gigs
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I offer online tutoring in non-practical subjects (music theory, arranging, composition etc.) This tutoring is presented over Skype and through email.
Each hour long session will be broken up into 40 mins of tutoring over Skype and 20 mins of follow-up, between which, pupils will be emailed examples of the discipline to be learnt and exercises to complete. I offer step-by-step cohesive guidance through all theory of music, from constructing Bach Chorales, to arranging for Big Band, to singer/songwriting which can be tailored to suit the needs of the pupil.
