Personal Message
Hello! I'm Tracey Taylor, an industry-standard qualified vocal coach in contemporary singing. Whether you are serious about performing or just want all the benefits of health and wellbeing that singing brings, I am here to help you on your journey.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach contemporary singing. I can also coach guitar playing singers and teach guitar on request.
In addition I teach songwriting, performance technique and preparation, which can include looking at song/s -their approach and execution- in greater depth, vocal projection and studio recording preparation.

I have examples of my work uploaded in My Media section, two of which give an example lesson with a student. (For this particular lesson, which I have split into parts 1 & 2, I worked on vowel formation and the strengthening of 'M''s voice. By the end of part 2, you will hear a noticeable difference.)
There are also two soundtracks uploaded as examples of songwriting and recording work I have embarked on, co-produced by Sony award winning engineer Shaun Lowe of Prism Studios, to credit the songwriting and studio preparation workshops I also hold.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Pdip.TVC (Upper Merit) in Teaching Contemporary Singing from The Voice College in London, which enables me to teach singing to adults and children.

Being partnered with The Objective conference held in Nashville each year, I am regularly invited to go over to act as mentor to auditioning bands and artists on a one-to-one basis, and to critique performances for the upcoming "Extreme Tour" that takes place each summer across the east and west coasts. I also partake in workshops conducted by world renowned vocal coach (to the likes of Leona Lewis) Brett Manning, and world renowned band and stage director Tom Jackson.

My Professional Diploma Contemporary Singing qualification enables me to teach musicality (rhythm and movement, ear-training, beat, sound-analysis and more) and impart essential keys to natural singing and speaking, teaching how you can use your voice naturally, powerfully and effortlessly in singing and speaking as you understand how it works. Within my course of study I submitted papers on Jaques Dalcroze Education of rhythm and movement and the Feldenkrais Method and Voice, relating to "singing with your whole self" (Nelson & Blades-Zeller, 2002). As part of further in-depth study, I also touched on other therapies and methods including the Alexander Technique.

In addition, I have had over 20 years experience of singing, performing and songwriting, with my first qualification being an A for music GCSE. I have had much voice tuition myself over the years, including the Speech Level Singing technique, and I have gleaned much from these tutors that I either include in my method or have learnt not to!
What kind of experience do you have?
I have individual and group workshop experience of teaching contemporary singing and musicality, working with a range of ages, backgrounds and abilities. I have worked with and performed alongside a school choir for a Remembrance Day service, along with other young peoples church singing groups. I have experience of performance coaching, stage direction and mentoring singers who wish to grow in confidence and leadership skills.

In addition, as someone with a number of years of recording and performance experience that has taken me all across the U.K., into Europe and America, I am experience-qualified to offer studio and performance preparation for anyone feeling they need help in either of these areas (references given on request). In this arena, I am proud to work on a regular basis with Sony award winning producer Shaun Lowe, of Prism Studios, Stoke-on-Trent and The Extreme Tour (Founder Ted Bruun) based in Nashville TN. Whilst in Nashville, I have been mentored under world-renowned Live music director Tom Jackson, with his "Live Music Method" approach.
How much do you charge?
I tend to teach by half-hour lessons. However, should you wish an hour you are welcome to book this. The cost if £15 per half-hour block.

NB: If you are a singer who performs with a guitar and wants a combined lesson of vocal and performance technique, the price is the same per half-hour block.

As an accomplished rhythm-guitarist, I also am available to give lessons on request.
Where do you teach?
I teach at the Hummingbird premises in Congleton, county Cheshire. Immediate towns nearby are Crewe, Sandbach, Holmes Chapel and Alderley Edge with Knutsford not too far away. Cheshire is next to county Staffordshire, with Stoke-on-Trent just 25-30 minutes down the road. Manchester is approximately 30-40 minutes drive north from where I am.
I will travel out, but only in exceptional circumstances. This will incur an additional cost.
I do have Skype, FaceTime and Zoom available for teaching online.
When are you available?
Between Monday - Friday: 10-2:30pm and then from 4:30-7pm. (Last booking taken at 7pm.)
Which ages and levels do you teach?
All ages and all levels.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
The first time we meet, we have an initial 'meet and greet' that includes an assessment of your vocal ability from one or two songs you bring (either to backing music, instrument led or accapella). We talk about your strengths and areas to work on, your aims in singing and any goals you have. The cost of this initial assessment and meet & greet is £10 for up to half an hour (30 minutes).

If you would like to go a formally graded route I can accommodate this, but it is not the immediate route I take.
I do offer in-house grading.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I do have Skype, FaceTime and Zoom available for teaching online. Just enquire which one you would prefer to use.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
The Voice College, London.
Where and with whom did you train?
The Voice College, London.
Do you have a personal message for students?
If you are just wanting to explore coaching with me and do not want to commit to lots of sessions, you are welcome to just dip your toes in and see how you feel. If you would like to book a number of sessions, I have a special discount of 10% with every 5 you buy (saving you £7.50. Not including the Initial Assessment).

It doesn't matter whether you have had training before or are a complete beginner, or even consider yourself someone with little (or no) musicality at all. Let's work together and you'll see that nothing is impossible.
