Personal Message
I am a friendly, experienced musician and professional singer who enjoys teaching. Whether you are an enthusiastic beginner or an experienced singer or violinist, I can provide extensive advice and experience whilst having plenty of fun!
Which subject(s) do you teach?
Classical singing, violin, theory and ukulele.

I do teach and look at popular music and musical theatre at the pupil's request with the classical technique I teach being both relevant and applicable to any style of singing. I teach violin to pupils up to the level of grade 5 and my teaching style encompasses musicianship to ensure a well rounded musical training. For ukulele I only teach beginners and this is a great starter instrument for children aged 6+ to get them started with basic musicianship before moving onto an instrument that is more technically demanding.

A Level Music
What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching singing for 9 years now, both in private 1-1 sessions and in groups. Each summer I teach at The Music Makers summer music courses in Nottingham aimed at children aged 5-15.

Through my operatic work I often teach singing workshops and more focused opera workshops. In these we explore the characters, themes and music of a specific opera, update it and see how the opera is still relevant to modern life, and then teaching some extracts of the work to the group.

I have extensive experience in choral singing having been a Canterbury Cathedral chorister, a member of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, a scholar at St Barnabas' Cathedral Nottingham and having conducted and directed Viva Voce Chamber Choir.
How much do you charge?
Teaching Rates: £35 per hour, £30 per 45 minutes and for young learners, £25 per 30 minutes. (30 minute lessons are only suitable for children)

N.B. I offer a 10% discount on block bookings of 6 lessons to help affordability.
Where do you teach?
I am currently only taking on pupils to teach at my home in Penge (Bromley), London. This would be most suitable for pupils living in Penge, Crystal Palace, Sydenham, Anerley, Beckenham, Forest Hill and Elmers End.
When are you available?
I am very flexible with my teaching schedule and am available for teaching during the days for those with flexible jobs, between 4pm and 8pm most evenings after you have finished work or school and occasionally on Saturday mornings.

Do contact me to discuss availability and timetabling regular lessons.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I have experience teaching all ages and levels for singing, from enthusiastic beginners to experienced choral/solo singers who wish to brush up on their technique/repertoire before concerts or auditions.

On violin I teach all ages from complete beginners to grade 5 level.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare my students for ABRSM and/or Trinity exams. This all depends on the student's wishes and goals and is something we would discuss in our approach to our lessons.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have a DBS Certificate with a Date of Issue: 04 March 2013.
Where and with whom did you train?
Whilst in Nottingham I trained with Richard Howarth and at the Royal Academy of Music and now privately with international tenor, Ryland Davies and in demand vocal coach, Audrey Hyland.

Whilst training for my LRAM singing teacher status I studied with Glenville Hargreaves and had vocal health lectures from specialists in a Harley Street clinic.
Do you have a personal message for students?
The most important thing is to enjoy your music!
