About Social Work
- What kind of experience do you have?
I've been privately tutoring Social Work students since 2014. In that time I've supported more than one hundred students from successfully getting onto their Social Work course right through to graduation. I'm pleased to say that every student's grades have improved with my support and I've had positive feedback from everyone I've supported (there are lots of testimonials and reviews on my website).
As well as my direct tutoring experience, I've worked as a Social Worker and Senior Social Worker since early 2013. Prior to this I've held various roles in Youth Work, Careers Advice and support services.
In my public speaking roles I have delivered training at a wide range of events that include the BASW national student conference, the IAMSocialWork 2016 tour and the Belfast Trust's World Social Work Day event 2017.
I have wrote various articles for The Guardian and Community Care. My first book is due to be published in September 2017.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have an enhanced DBS.
I am also a member of the DBS update service and can provide a current copy of my certificate whenever required.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am a member of:
The Society for Education and Training and NAGALRO
- Tell me about some of your current students.
I've supported over a hundred students since I started tutoring in 2014. Here are some of their testimonials from over the years:
I improved with every session I had, going to merit to achieving mainly distinctions. I would highly recommend you. You were fantastic, inspiring, motivating. Without your help, I would have quit my college course and would not be going to uni in September. For that I will always be grateful. Thank you. Forever!!!
L: Access to Higher Education Student- North East
I just wanted to say thank you for your help, I know that without it I wouldn't have been able to be as confident as I was, nor would I have been able to answer as well as I did
S: Preparing for course interviews- Midlands
My tutor has been the best help I could have
C: 1st Year BSc Student- South West England
Hi I did the exams yesterday and every thing went according to plan. I am very confident I will perform well this time. Just to say thanks for all your time and support it was worth it
V: 2nd Year BSc Student- Greater London
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, my first year of an MA has been tough but with your help, support and friendly manner I honestly saw a difference. You gave me the confidence that I needed in order to not only get the task done but also attain high level grades. I very much doubt I would have passed this year without you if Im being really honest, and appreciate all that you have done
H: 1st Year BA Student- Midlands
You highlighted other topics/issues relevant to my essays. With the advice I was able to carry out further reading. You helped me gain a further understanding of issues surrounding social work practice in a neo-liberal structure. You also helped me with my understanding of theory, this aided my practice on placement. I was able to speak about the different theories learnt within my supervisions with my practice educator. The quality of the sessions you provide is outstanding. Also I have noticed you also go the extra mile and may not charge for the extra time you spend reading over my work. Don't change! I appreciate the way I have been supported. Thanks to you I was able to achieve my goal for for the year, a distinction
A: 1st Year BA Student- Lancashire
How are you?Just to say thank you for your help and support I am now an expert in interviews. I went for 3 interviews and am being offered positions in all 3 LAs so am trying to explore all the options and make my decision by next week. Your support was excellent. I wouldn't have done it without your support. Your tips on showing evidence was the best because I used to answer questions without giving practical examples. I must say everything was helpful. Thank you very much
