...After struggling in the first year of AS levels I was worried that I would not achieve the grades to study law...with your help I was able to achieve A grades in both history and sociology and will now study law at the University of Nottingham.
Stuart successfully tutored my eldest daughter through her 11+ exams, securing her offers and a scholarship from five of the most competitive state and independent schools in London. He does have very high standards He teaches not just the subject, but also the art of how to learn.Through word-of-mouth he has proved to be a sought after tutor. I have entrusted my second daughter to his care.
Without Stuart's help I would not have got into King's. He guided me through material I previously found mundane and irrelevant. He has opened my eyes to the world of literature and broadened my horizons, and shown me how it is relevant to my study of politics, as it allows me to gauge different viewpoints and voices. He brings his experience from his career at Cambridge to show me how to engage effectively with exams questions, and answer them to get the best grades that I use to this day. Dec 2011
Stuart has been fabulous withour daughter. She really enjoys her sessions,is now much more confident in her work and has blossomed as a result of support and encouragement. Stuart's focus on quality... aiming high and drawing learning out of the child with humour and a gentle touch was just what Charlotte needed. Her level of English was risking pulling her marks in exams down but, as a result of working with Stuart; Charlotte sailed through her 11 plus.
Thank you very much for tutoring my son for his GCSE English exams. He had his results yesterday and has done particularly well gettng an A for English Literature and a B for English Language. Considering he was predicted a C/B, we are delighted with the difference your input made. He found the support you gave him invaluable and he felt you picked up well on the areas he needed to concentrate on and that the manner and approach you took helped him feel relaxed and open to study.
I have known Stuart since 2007 and I have found him to be reliable, trustworthy and professional. Stuart helped my son through his English GCSE and A-level. Stuart was patient and helpful and an excellent tutor who enabled my son to achieve the necessary grades. He is now studying for a degree in English. Stuart has a particular understanding of special eduational needs and was a great support for my son who is dyslexic. I would highly recommend Stuart as a tutor. (2.07.11).
We asked Stuart for help with preparation for GCSE English...Stuart was familiar with the appropriate syllabus and identifed the issues quickly .He worked with my son in a very focused way tailoring the approach to strengths and weaknesses...From a B in his mocks we are delighted with the A* he achieved this summer.
My son did extremely well in his entrance exams. He got in at Latymer, QE boys, Highgate, and Habs... Thank you again for all your help,my son would not have done it without you.
[My son] got an A* in English Literature an A in History and a B in English Lang.-all that we were concerned that he might not even pass ...A dramatic improvement down to your patience, clear teaching and experienced exam preparation.
My daughter was predicted a B grade for AS History and her confidence was low when Stuart came to tutor her in the last few weeks before the exam...in he exam she got a a very sound A at AS, scoring 84% in one paper and 91% in the other. She is now predicted an A* and her confidence and enjoyment of the subject have returned.
