About Timothy
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught piano for 18 years and the organ for the last 10 years. As a music teacher within secondary school, for the last 7 years, I am always looking for opportunities to inspire the students and get them involved in making music. As a result of this, I have learnt how to motivate students and inspire them to practice music with great results. I have a 100 percent pass rate for GCSE and ABRSM exams and I have a wide range of skills including, knowledge of audio equipment, PA systems and a firm grasp on subject knowledge to degree level including the history and theory of music. In addition I have a firm understanding of music technology in particular Cubase, Garageband, Audacity and Sibelius.
I hold Associateship from the Royal College of Organists (ARCO) and a performance degree with honours from Trinity College of Music. I am currently Director of Music and organist at St George's Church in Enfield, Freezywater and I enjoy conducting, performing, accompanying, rehearsing and sight-reading. I conducted the Festival Chorus singing the Handel's Messiah in Paris and last year organised three choirs to sing Faure's Requiem Mass. I am a very versatile musician and able to play the piano, harpsichord, voice, violin, viola, guitar and percussion. In recent years I have toured with the Hitchen Concert Band (Spain, Belgium) leading the percussion section. Musical engagements this year include accompanying the Enfield Choral Society at St Luke's Church and a solo piano performance including works by Chopin and Rachmaninoff.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have a fully up-to-date DBS disclosure certificate.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I trained as a chorister and organist at the Royal Hospital School where I was a music scholar. After leaving school I accepted a place at Trinity College of Music, London, where I studied the organ with Ian Curror, Cathrine Ennis and Colm Carey and I held an organ scholarship to Christ Church. After graduating from Trinity I gained my PGCE in music and subsequently my ARCO and following that my Masters Degree.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I belong to the following musical organisations; RCO, NUT, PNMS, MU.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
Last term one of my students passed grade 3 piano with 140/150 (Distinction), my Organ student passed grade 8 with 134/150 (Distinction). Last year one student aged six passed his grade 2 with Merit and last summer a pupil aged 8 passed grade 3 piano and grade 1 Theory with Merit.

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Timothy has been teaching my son for three years now and he is fantastic. He made it easy for my child to learn and he always wants more lessons because he enjoys the lessons so much. Timothy knows how to get the best out of my child. I recommend him to anyone who wants to learn music.
Tim's passion for music comes through in every lesson. Timothy has inspired my children and taught them both theory and piano. His professionalism and knowledge of music is impressive and he has developed excellent relationships with my children and inspires them to practice. My eldest son loves music due to his lessons and I would highly recommend this friendly teacher.
Since changing teacher, I was lucky to be recommended Tim. He has a different, more supportive approach which has rekindled my love for music. He is incredibly patient and understanding in his methods and teaching. My performance and confidence on the piano has improved greatly.
While teaching my daughter to play piano for a year now, Tim has proved to be an exceptional teacher. His ability to motivate and connect with my daughter through his teaching has been very impressive. I very highly recommend Tim.
