About Timothy

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have taught piano for 18 years and the organ for the last 10 years. As a music teacher within secondary school, for the last 7 years, I am always looking for opportunities to inspire the students and get them involved in making music. As a result of this, I have learnt how to motivate students and inspire them to practice music with great results. I have a 100 percent pass rate for GCSE and ABRSM exams and I have a wide range of skills including, knowledge of audio equipment, PA systems and a firm grasp on subject knowledge to degree level including the history and theory of music. In addition I have a firm understanding of music technology in particular Cubase, Garageband, Audacity and Sibelius.

I hold Associateship from the Royal College of Organists (ARCO) and a performance degree with honours from Trinity College of Music. I am currently Director of Music and organist at St George's Church in Enfield, Freezywater and I enjoy conducting, performing, accompanying, rehearsing and sight-reading. I conducted the Festival Chorus singing the Handel's Messiah in Paris and last year organised three choirs to sing Faure's Requiem Mass. I am a very versatile musician and able to play the piano, harpsichord, voice, violin, viola, guitar and percussion. In recent years I have toured with the Hitchen Concert Band (Spain, Belgium) leading the percussion section. Musical engagements this year include accompanying the Enfield Choral Society at St Luke's Church and a solo piano performance including works by Chopin and Rachmaninoff.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

I have a fully up-to-date DBS disclosure certificate.

- Where and with whom did you train?

I trained as a chorister and organist at the Royal Hospital School where I was a music scholar. After leaving school I accepted a place at Trinity College of Music, London, where I studied the organ with Ian Curror, Cathrine Ennis and Colm Carey and I held an organ scholarship to Christ Church. After graduating from Trinity I gained my PGCE in music and subsequently my ARCO and following that my Masters Degree.

- Do you belong to any professional organisations?

I belong to the following musical organisations; RCO, NUT, PNMS, MU.

- Tell me about some of your current students.

Last term one of my students passed grade 3 piano with 140/150 (Distinction), my Organ student passed grade 8 with 134/150 (Distinction). Last year one student aged six passed his grade 2 with Merit and last summer a pupil aged 8 passed grade 3 piano and grade 1 Theory with Merit.
