During term times, I have availability on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, and Thursday afternoons.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I can teach all ages, from early years to adults.
I teach from beginner to intermediate level.
With music lessons, I involve as many different genres and musical skills as possible, to develop well-rounded, knowledgeable, multi-skilled musicians.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

If requested I prepare students for ABRSM Graded examinations. Although these are beneficial as they provide a good framework and targets for students, if too much importance is placed on them it can result in inflexible musicianship. I recommend developing a wider range of softer skills in addition to graded examinations, rather than simply perfecting a limited amount of material.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

Each student is different, so each lesson is adapted to the student - reacting to their strengths and motivations, whilst simultaneously challenging and introducing them to new concepts and approaches.

Students improve most when they feel empowered, and therefore motivated to practise. My style is centred around providing the student with the tools to be able to work things out independently, developing effective personal practice methods, with a big focus on creativity. Allowing them the space to experiment, get things wrong, and self-correct.

Lessons include as many different elements of music making as possible (sight reading, aural skills, composition, transcription, improvisation, ensemble skills, performance techniques, music theory) involving as many different musical genres as possible, in order to develop all-round musicianship.
