Personal Message
Hello! Originally from New Zealand, I am a professional musician and teacher based in Cambridge. Inspiring people to enjoy and make music at all levels is my teaching ethos. Please feel free to contact me no matter what age or standard!
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I specialise in teaching brass instruments (trumpet, cornet, french horn, trombone, euphonium and tuba). I also teach piano, music theory, musicianship, conducting and chamber music. I have taught students aged from 7 years old to 70 years old. From how to hold the instrument to final recitals for conservatoire level students, anything is possible! I am very happy to start out students at any age, assist through graded exam requirements and onwards from there.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I am a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music with a Master of Music (Distinction).
What kind of experience do you have?
I am an active freelance musician in the United Kingdom, and currently hold the Sub-Principal Trumpet position in Orchestra Wellington (New Zealand).

I am an experienced and versatile musician and have performed internationally for over 16 years. I have performed with the Hallé, Opera North, Black Dyke Brass Band, New Zealand Opera, Welsh National Opera, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Royal New Zealand Ballet and the Royal New Zealand Air Force Band to name a few.
How much do you charge?
I teach at a rate of £35 per hour, £17.50 per half hour. For anyone beginning an instrument and wanting a consultation (or some advice!) please do get in contact to discuss a discounted rate.
Where do you teach?
I teach out of my spacious studio in Central Cambridge and am happy to travel throughout Cambridgeshire.
When are you available?
I have flexible teaching hours and am able to work with your personal schedule.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
All ages and abilities are welcome!
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I'm adaptable for those who want to follow exams (ABRSM or Trinity Guildhall) or for those who would prefer non-exam based teaching.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes, I have a valid up-to-date DBS.
Where and with whom did you train?
I studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, the University of British Columbia and the New Zealand School of Music with many inspiring teachers.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Learning a musical instrument is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experiences - and anyone can do it! Do get in touch if you would like assistance on your musical journey.
