Personal Message
I am a professional jazz trumpet player and composer/arranger based in Harringay. I'm also a dedicated and passionate teacher who can help you towards your musical goals, whatever they may be.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I can teach trumpet/cornet/flugelhorn at any level, from absolute beginner to professional standard. Whilst jazz is my specialism, I also have experience of playing in classical and popular styles, and I'm happy to tailor lessons to suit your own needs.

I am also able to teach jazz improvisation/theory (applicable to any instrument) and jazz composition/arranging, alongside classical theory (in preparation for ABRSM theory exams, for example).
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a first class BMus (hons) degree in jazz performance from Birmingham Conservatoire.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have a wide range of performing experience, as a member of ensembles such as the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra (with whom I have performed with guest soloists such as Joe Locke, Mike Mainieri, Kenny Washington and Eddi Reader), my own group Fervour (check us out via the youtube link in the 'My Files' section), rock induced brass band Young Pilgrims and modern soul group Antelope. I have freelanced with the likes of Jim Rattigan's 'Pavillon', Eliza Carthy's 'Wayward Band' and the Mike Fletcher Jazz Orchestra, to name but a few.

I am also a prolific composer. I've been commissioned to arrange for the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, and have released a critically acclaimed album of my own, featuring original works for big band (check out a track from the album via the youtube link in the 'My Files' section). This was recorded by the Birmingham Jazz Orchestra, which I founded whilst living in Birmingham.

I have taught on a private basis for three years, and have gained experience teaching a wide range of abilities and ages. I also spent a year teaching part time in schools for the Birmingham Music Service from 2015-2016.
How much do you charge?
I charge £35 for an hour long lesson, and £25 for half an hour. I offer a free consultation lesson at either length.
Where do you teach?
I can teach at home or at students' homes. I don't charge extra to travel to homes in Haringey, or in a nearby district, such as Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Islington or Waltham Forest. Travel to further afield will incur a charge, negotiable with the student.
When are you available?
As a freelance musician, my availability is quite flexible. I'm happy to arrange any time that is mutually convenient.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I am happy to teach all ages and all levels.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I can prepare students for practical and/or theory exams if desired (for both ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall). I can also help students to work towards school, college or university auditions.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I am available to teach online via Skype.
