I am an enthusiastic teacher committed to helping all students make music not just learn technique.
I have experience of teaching both one to one and in primary and pre school class music.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach classical Violin and Viola
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have BEd (London) in class music teaching.
ALCM in violin playing.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have 35 years of experience in schools, group lessons, workshops, summer schools and privately.
How much do you charge?
Initial consultation is free then £29 an hour, £14 50 half an hour and £21 75 for 45 mins.
Where do you teach?
I teach at my home in Old Costessey in Norwich Norfolk. I don't travel to students' houses.
When are you available?
I am available most daytime and evenings during the week (not weekends). Lessons are available during school holidays.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and abilities up to Grade 8 on Violin, and Viola up to Grade 5. and specialise in teaching children and those with special educational needs. I teach children from 5 and I provide opportunities for pupils to play to each other informally and also in a concert at the end of the year. I also have experience of teaching adults, both beginners and those returning to playing.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare students for ABRSM exams if this is appropriate for them.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have a CRB disclosure.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians.
Do you have a personal message for students?
I think that the experience gained from learning a musical instrument is invaluable. I'm happy to teach those who want to learn for academic gain or purely for enjoyment.
