During my time as a teacher I have learnt to adapt my teaching style to meet the specific needs of the pupil. I believe that everyone is capable of learning regardless of age or previous musical experience and I am equally comfortable tutoring absolute beginners or those with advanced skills. I teach the majority of my pupils on a one to one basis but also have experience teaching small groups.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach the cello from a beginner level to expert level. I also teach the clarinet up to a grade 5 standard and music theory up to a grade 6 standard.
Tell me about your qualifications.
In 2000 I won a bursary to study cello with Genevieve Teulieres-Sommer at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Junior Department. During this time I attended masterclasses in France with Raphael Sommer. In 2003 I performed Saint Saens First Cello Concerto in Rochester Cathedral and in the same year I reached the final round of the Marlowe Young Musician of the Year competition in Canterbury.

In July 2006 I completed a B.Mus.Hons degree at the Royal College of Music, London where I studied with Melissa Phelps and held a scholarship. From 2006 – 2008 I continued my studies at the Royal College of Music on the Post Graduate Diploma programme where I was awarded the Orchestral Mentor Scholarship and studied under Thomas Carrol. During this time I was chosen to lead the cello section of the Royal College of Music Opera Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra in numerous concerts under such conductors as Sir Roger Norrington, Sir Charles Mackerras and Vladimir Ashkenazy.

Since completing my degree in 2008 I have gone on to perform with numerous London orchestras including the London Concert Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
What kind of experience do you have?
Since leaving the Royal College of Music in 2008 I have gone on to hold the post of Cello Teacher in numerous schools throughout London and Kent. They include Tiffin Boys School in Kingston and Garden House School in London. I also hold the post of cello and clarinet teacher at Beechwood Sacred Heart School in Tunbridge Wells. In addition to this I have taught privately throughout Kent since 2006 and have experience in teaching a wide range of ages and abilities.
How much do you charge?
I charge:

£15 - 30 minute lesson
£25 - 45 minute lesson
£30 - 1 hour lesson

There may be a slight variation on price if I am required to travel to the pupils home. Travel costs etc would be taken into account.
Where do you teach?
I am able to teach at my home in Maidstone or am happy to travel to nearby locations such as:

Medway towns - Chatham/Rochester etc
Tunbridge Wells/Tonbridge
Faversham/Canterbury

I am able to accommodate an individuals needs in terms of travel and would be very willing to discuss other locations!
