Personal Message
My aim as a teacher is to build confidence, make music enjoyable and help you achieve your personal goals. I am a professional violinist and musical educator now living in Hindhead. I currently have spaces for enthusiastic and committed students!
Which subject(s) do you teach?
Violin (beginner-expert)
Music Theory
Tell me about your qualifications.
I hold a Masters of Music postgraduate degree in Solo Violin Performance. I also hold a Bachelor of Music with Honours undergraduate degree, both awarded by the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
What kind of experience do you have?
As a professional violinist I freelance for several orchestras across the UK including the BBC Philharmonic, Halle, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and United Strings of Europe. This past year I have travelled the world with my performing career and have worked in Melbourne and Sydney-Australia, South Korea, Taiwan, Switzerland and France. I have recently returned to the UK, moving to Hindhead in Surrey where I hope to pass on my enthusiasm for music and expertise to local violinists and musicians.

Previous teaching posts include Upper Strings Teacher at Alderley Edge School for Girls (September 2015-July 2016) Violin Teacher at Repton and Foremarke Hall Schools (September 2010-July 2013) and Upper Strings Tutor for Bolton Music Service (September 2008-August 2010). I also enjoyed the post of Assistant Director of Music from April 2011 until august 2012 at Foremarke Hall School where I was able to develop the music department and encourage many young musicians to perform as soloists and within ensembles.
How much do you charge?
I offer consultation lessons at £20 for 30 minutes.

My current rates are £25 for 30 minutes or £40 for 60 minutes. Prices are flexible for young beginner violinists (as lesson length is tailored to suit children under 6yrs old)
Where do you teach?
I provide lessons at my home in Hindhead, Surrey and am willing to travel at a small additional cost.
When are you available?
I have a varied schedule so can offer flexibility with lessons and find a time to suit you.

I am able to teach most weeks throughout school holidays and am able to offer additional lessons leading up to performances/examinations etc.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I have experience teaching all ages and levels. Everyone is welcome!
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I mainly prepare students for ABRSM performance and theory examinations.

I am also able to prepare violinists for auditions into NCO/NYO, music schools/college and GCSE/A Level performances.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I currently hold two up to date CRB disclosure certificates.
Where and with whom did you train?
I studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester with musicians Levon Chillingirian-Chillingirian Quartet (2008-2010), Malcolm Layfield-Head of Strings RNCM (2007-2011), Thomas Kemp-Chamber Domaine (2005-2007). Prior to the RNCM I was taught by Peter Maslin-Co-leader of Opera North Orchestra (2003-2005). I was awarded places on the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, BBC Philharmonic and Manchester Camerata orchestral experience schemes whilst at the RNCM and spent several weeks training with the professional orchestras and conductors.
