Professional and sympathetic teaching. I specialise in teaching adults. School age pupils who have achieved minimum grade four are also welcome.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Violin technique and musicianship to school aged pupils from grade 5 ABRSM, and to ADULT BEGINNERS & RESTARTERS to advanced level for performance.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have over 25 years experience as a violin teacher.
What kind of experience do you have?
Over 25 years teaching at leading Public Schools including Oakham in Rutland, The Leys School in Cambridge and St. Faith's Preparatory School, Cambridge. Former coach to the Cambridge County Youth Orchestra. Chamber music coach on various courses. Experienced performer who has been televised playing in Germany and the UK. Former musical director of the Galliard Chamber Orchestra. Over 20 years as a member of the Hertford String Quartet.
How much do you charge?
I charge £35.00 per hour or pro rata.
Where do you teach?
At my home the "Rottingdean Music Studio", 11 West Street, Rottingdean. The coastal buses from Brighton/Eastbourne stop outside or opposite the teaching studio.
When are you available?
I am flexible regarding teaching hours: daytime or early evening until latest 20.00 hours. The actual time has to avoid any lessons scheduled by the piano teacher Margaret Copestake.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
ADULTS are very welcome as BEGINNERS/RE-STARTERS or of an ADVANCED level. All will receive sympathetic teaching. For school age a minimum standard of Grade 5 ABSRM is required.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Associated Board examinations where considered necessary and also up to degree level. I am more interested in providing pupils with a secure technique and musicianship with a wide range of repertoire than the treadmill of exams.
