Personal Message
Hi, I am an experienced and friendly Violin and Piano teacher. I enjoy teaching students of all ages and levels. Beginners are welcome.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach:
Violin (ABRSM Grade 1 - 8 +)
Piano (ABRSM Grade 1 - 5)
Tell me about your qualifications.
BMus (Scholar) - The Royal College of Music, London 2006-2010
The Yehudi Menuhin School, Surrey 1997-2006
What kind of experience do you have?
From 2012 until November 2017 I lived in Berlin where I worked as a freelance violinist and instrumental teacher. While in Germany I performed with various different orchestras, chamber music ensembles and as a soloist.
Chamber music is particularly important to me and I have had an active role in organising concerts both with my duo 'Fine Arts Soloists' (Violin and Cello) and larger ensembles. As a founding member of 'Fine Arts Soloists' I had the pleasure of performing concerts in the Deutsches Hirstoriches Museum, the Hessische Landesvertretung (Hessen Embassy), providing live music on filmset 'Ein Starkes Team' (ZDF) and touring to eleven different cities within Germany for TUI Cruise's promotional events.
I am also a very keen orchestral player and have had the pleasure of working as one of the main reserves for the Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg.

Violin and Piano teacher, Musikschule Kinderspiel, Phorms Berlin Süd, Berlin, Germany, August 2012 - November 2017

While working at this school as a peripatetic violin and piano teacher, I gave individual lessons to up to 30 students each week. My students ranged in age from 5 to 14 years old, from complete beginners to more advanced players.
While acting in this role I would organise regular concerts for my students where they would have the opportunity to perform either on their own or in small ensembles. I would often accompany them on either the violin or piano.
To help encourage better progress I found that it was important to build up a rapport not only with the students but with their parents as well. All of my students had practice homework diaries where I would detail what we had worked on in their lessons, goals for that week, longterm targets, practice scheduling aims, basic theory reminders, scales and a reward system for when each goal or aim had been reached.
How much do you charge?
Generally, my lesson price is £30 for an hour including travel expenses.
Where do you teach?
I travel up to 45 minutes to a student's house.
When are you available?
I am available most days of the week.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and levels. Adult beginners are also welcome.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Violin (ABRSM Grade 1 - 8 +)
Piano (ABRSM Grade 1 - 5)
