I’m a latecomer to the violin and Karen has been a great encouragement. Lessons are well focussed and really enjoyable. Her teaching is imaginative and motivational. She deals kindly and constructively with my modest progress. I don’t hesitate in recommending her.
Karen has a patient, kind and creative style. My 7-year old daughter absolutely loves 'jamming' with Karen fostering a great love for the violin. The sessions are constructive, easy to follow and fun. I couldn't recommend Karen highly enough!
I have two children, early teens, studying with Karen at an intermediate level. We have been through a number of Tutors. I am pleased to say that under Karen's guidance both my children are finally making real progress! Karen really understands how to identify weakness and encourages her pupils to make consistent improvements! Thoroughly recommend!
My daughter has been taking lessons from Karen for almost a year now. Karen is truly a very dedicated musician and gives her 100% effort into each and every lesson. She takes special care to ensure that her tutees adopts the best practices right from the beginning, very much as their second nature, and provides constructive feedback for continuous improvement.
I have known Karen for few months now as my daughter’s Violin teacher. It’s been only few months and my daughter has learned a lot from Karen and Karen has been key to my daughter’s confidence in playing violin and also appear for an exam for the first time.
I find Karen very approachable, accommodating, kind and welcoming person. Karen has a very interesting teaching booth in a lovely spot by the Thames and makes drop and pick up a lovely experience which otherwise would seem like a chore. I am glad I found Karen as my violin teacher for my daughter and my daughter is very comfortable and happy to learn from her.
Karen has been teaching my daughter for over a year now. She is an inspiring and thoughtful teacher who transmits her love for music and the violin. Karen creates a friendly, calm and stress free environment where a child is allowed to blossom. Since my daughter started having lessons with Karen, she has progressed and improved steadily.
Karen has been teaching my daughter violin for a year. She is a very kind and patient teacher and my daughter enjoys her lessons.
Karen has been teaching me since February 2018 when I first began playing the violin. I originally found her listed on tutoring website and had no connections with her prior to this.
The violin is fifth instrument I have learnt and so I have several teachers I am able to compare Karen’s teaching style to! Standout characteristics about Karen’s teaching style and character for me are:
- A real focus on you enjoying playing, rather than just learning for sake of it
- A step by step approach to technique that builds week and week, growing your confidence and skill without feeling overwhelming. This has really built my confidence
- Support In choosing goals to suit you and your dreams i.e. exams, playing in group, style of music
- Karen is friendly, warm and with a sense of humour
- Endless patience with teaching me to tune my instrument and tips on technique to help me play in my instrument in tune, no easy task the beginning!
I love my lessons so much that having moved two hours away to Hampshire, that I come back for them still!Karen is an exceptionally good and talented violinist, sharing her love of the instrument with those she tutors. She’s patient, helpful and encouraging. I would have no hesitation in recommending Karen.
Karen is a great teacher. She tunes into how you learn and helps you accordingly, but also finds a way to teach you correct technique and posture as well. She gives you constructive feedback which for me is huge as some teachers have been discouraging with their criticism. Since Karen has been my teacher my confidence and ability to play has improved immensely. Thank you Karen!
Karen is an excellent Violin instructor who really knows how to breakdown and explain what you need to do to improve. I enjoy the way she mixes up the tricky technical tasks with playing fun pieces and duets which give a really nice sense of achievement and progress. I highly recommend Karen to anyone who wants to take up the challenge of learning the Violin.
Karen has worked with my son at a time when motivating him to continue violin lessons was a difficulty. He is now enjoying playing so much more and is rediscovering his passion for music.
My twelve year old son has come on leaps and bounds whilst being taught by Karen. She has a very warm approach with him, that puts him at ease especially in those moments he is learning something new and tricky. She is also very fun and creative with her teaching, and great at teaching things in a way that he can relate to.
Karen helped our son find enjoyment again in playing the violin. As an intuitive teacher she found ways to connect his 'outside' interests with his music to keep it fresh and interesting for him. She is a talented and committed teacher and we highly recommend her.
My daughter (aged nine) has been loving her violin lessons with Karen. After trying a few different teachers, we finally feel we have found someone who has the right balance of theory and structure, with fun, enjoyment too. She has just passed her grade 3 with a distinction- I am so proud of her ! Karen is now focussing on her learning purely for the pleasure of it for a while before the next milestone.
