Personal Message
Hello! I am a classically trained violin/viola player and teacher. I aim to encourage my students to enjoy the process of learning music, regardless of level and age, and to refine a work ethic that can improve productivity in any aspect of life.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach classical violin, viola, and coach chamber music sessions.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have my Bachelor and Master's degrees in Viola Performance from Rice University, Houston, TX, USA.
What kind of experience do you have?
As a performer I enjoy a healthy freelance career, playing with Philharmonia, RPO, LPO, CBSO and other full-time professional orchestras around the UK. I have appeared at the BBC proms, BBC radio 3, Swiss Radio and other media outlets as a member of the Verbier Festival Orchestra and as a chamber musician with the Cardinal Quartet.

I teach privately in Southeast London as well as through Wandsworth Schools. I also teach with Play for Progress which provides music lessons to child refugees.

I taught for four years in Houston, through Klein and Tomball independent school districts and privately out of my home, where my violin and viola students achieved top marks in their regional and state playing exams, as well as qualifying for both Houston Regional Orchestra and Texas All-State Orchestra.
As a Teaching Assistant at the Shepherd School of Music, I also have experience with advanced students at the University level.
I coached for American Festival for the Arts, which provided weekly chamber music coachings for children.
How much do you charge?
£45 per hour (£40 fee, plus £5 for travel to the student's home)
£35 for 45 minutes (£30 fee, plus £5 travel)

If two students live in the same home, the travel fee is only counted once.
If the students prefers to come to my home, the travel fee is waived.
Where do you teach?
I travel to my students' homes, and teach out of my own home.
I teach in Sydenham, Forest Hill, Dulwich, Crystal Palace, Bromley, Norwood, Herne Hill, Brixton, etc within a reasonable radius of Southeast London. I am willing to travel elsewhere for a fee negotiated on a case by case basis.
When are you available?
I am available Monday-Wednesday after school, as well as weekend mornings. If I have to reschedule this will be negotiated with at least 48 hours notice and make-up lessons are guaranteed.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach beginners through advanced students on both violin and viola. Students should be at least 5 years of age.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I can prepare students for ABRSM exams, recitals and school requirements.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I've been DBS checked and I've completed Safeguarding training.
