I am an experienced voice/acting coach and professional actress, working in Australia, the UK and USA for many years. I can provide you with the tools to develop a strong, flexible, effective and creative speaking voice.

I am a voice coach. I teach pure voice, speech clarity, accents and dialects, public speaking, acting skills, Working with Archetypes, textual analysis (Classical and contemporary), Shakespeare performance, clown, singing for non-singers.
Tell me about your qualifications.
My training has taken the form of many workshop sessions over the years with some of the world's most renowned voice and acting teachers, including Ira Seidenstenin, Valerii Galendier (Maly Drama Theatre of St Petersburg), Kristin Linklater, Catherine Fitzmaurice, John Britton, John Wright. In 2014 I qualified as a Knight-Thompson certified teacher (clear speech and accents)
What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught voice in secondary schools and tertiary colleges in the UK, USA and Australia - most recently at E15 Acting School and currently at Manchester School of Theatre. My private practice, Being in Voice has provided voice, speech and acting coaching in the UK and Australia since 1989.

As an actress, I have performed Shakespeare and many contemporary plays, toured with a number of independent theatre, and also performed in a great number of small independent films.
How much do you charge?
My fee for a 1-hour session is £40, with discounts for lessons booked in bulk (4, 8, 10 sessions) when the fee is paid in advance. Group lessons and workshops range from £10 to £15 a head for the session, depending on the number of participants.
Where do you teach?
I teach private sessions at my home in the centre of Liverpool. I am happy to travel throughout Merseyside, and charge £10 per hour travel time (public transport).

Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have a current DBS to work in Scotland.
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
Skype is my preferred medium for online tutoring. I'm presently investigating Zoom for the possibility of working with multiple students online at once.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am a proud member of British Actors Equity, and the Voice & Speech Trainers Association (VASTA).
Tell me about some of your current students.
I am currently working with the second year acting students at the Manchester School of Theatre, a marvellous and creative group of young actors.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Being in Voice is suitable for anyone who wishes to enhance their communication skills. For actors, this means being alive and working in the moment, keeping the performance fresh and spontaneous every time, able to shift accents expertly as required. For public speakers, business people, educators this means expressing yourself with clarity and confidence, generously sharing the content of your topic with your audience.
