About ZERRIN

- What kind of experience do you have?

The process of teaching has enabled me to develop tremendous interpersonal skills when I explain mathematical ideas successfully and demonstrate how to apply these ideas logically in different contexts with a more efficient method. Furthermore, I am very confident with my numeric calculations. At my present college, I have taught a wide range of learner ages and my teaching methods have been well differentiated for these groups. I regularly draw upon creative and inspiring teaching and learning methods including peer lead discussions, presentations, individual research and group tasks. My resources and materials have been designed to accommodate and engage all learners actively at all levels in the classroom. I have extensive experience of using ICT applications during lessons such as use of online resources and activities.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

Yes I have which was updated this year in 2013.

- Where and with whom did you train?

I had training at Institute of Education and my placement college was Hackney Community College

- Do you belong to any professional organisations?

Yes I am an affiliate with the IFL and ATL and I am eager to upgrade my membership levels.

- Tell me about some of your current students.

I have taught to many students as a personal tutor for about six years and they are very happy with my teaching. I provide them any relevant worksheets, past papers with their answers and many other teaching materials if necessary. Some students have improved and achieved their target grades whereas others still need more tuition. A Level results have just been released and I have 100% success rate in my class at my present college. They have actually achieved the best grades out of other three maths classes.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

I have a very high mathematical knowledge which I can apply to deliver very effective lessons whilst teaching. I studied maths at University College London and graduated in 2007 and started teaching privately straight after. I have taught various modules at A level maths and further maths including applied mathematics with mechanics, pure maths, mathematical methods, probability and statistics, financial mathematics as well as physics and chemistry at GCSE level. In addition, I also received teacher training at the Institute of Education for several months whilst at university. Within my teaching, I have strived to help improve my learners’ levels of Mathematics. I have solved any queries which students presented me with and I conveyed complex mathematical ideas to them and they have been able to apply these concepts competently themselves. I am eager to use Maths Net, Live Maths or My Maths websites on students’ request or audio maths CD’s and video clips to have more interactive lessons and this way I could easily monitor students' progress. I plan and prepare all my resources at least a week in advance and ensure I have the necessary materials for my lesson.
