Spaces available in East Croydon and surrounding area. I am a friendly, patient teacher, who has experience in tutoring all ages of pupils. This includes students working towards ABRSM exams, or adults learning as a hobby.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
Cello, Baroque Cello, Theory, Aural, accompany ABRSM exams
Tell me about your qualifications.
BMus Hons: Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama
MA Historical Performance: Royal Academy of Music
What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught cello and piano consistently since leaving school, and throughout my studies. In between my degrees I worked as a full-time string instructor for a local Scottish education authority. Since moving to London to study in 2007, I have built up a successful private teaching practice of both piano and cello students. Until September 2013, this was based in North London, but I am now looking to build up a range of teaching in Croydon and nearby, where I have recently moved. My pupils have a 100% pass rate for ABRSM exams, although I don't consider these a necessity. I am a freelance cellist, performing regularly alongside my teaching. I am also employed as a cello teacher by a charity called The Bridge Project, which provides school instrumental lessons for pupils, in more disadvantaged areas of London.
How much do you charge?
Hourly rates range from £30-£40, dependent on travel. I teach at home, but am also happy to travel if it is possible to fit into my schedule. I offer discounts for families, or for pupils both having lessons in the same house etc.
Where do you teach?
I am based in East Croydon, but currently also travel to surrounding areas in Soith London, for example, Balham.
When are you available?
Monday to Friday, occasional Saturday. Mainly private teaching after school, but I am always happy to arrange lessons during the day for adults.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
All ages, Cello up to Grade 8 and beyond. Piano, up to Grade 7
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
ABRSM, any school qualifications.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
Musicians Union
