I'm a flute teacher based in London with 15 years experience of teaching all ages & abilities. I also enjoy a busy freelance career performing modern & historical flutes.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
Flute (beginners to advanced)
Music Theory (up to Grade 5 ABRSM)
Historical Flutes (baroque flute and keyed classical flutes)
Recorder (beginners to intermediate)

I also coach chamber music groups (e.g. for A-Level or music degree ensemble exams) and prepare students for youth orchestra, university and college auditions.

What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught flute privately for 15 years to students of all ages, ranging in ability from beginners to those studying for their music degrees.

I currently hold the post of Flute Teacher at Graveney School in London, where I teach 11-18 year olds. Previous experience includes Modern and Baroque Flute Teacher for the University of East Anglia (2007-11). I've also performed in education projects with Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.

I also work as a freelance flautist, performing on historical and modern flutes with orchestras and ensembles such as The Hanover Band, The Parley of Instruments, London Handel Orchestra, Southern Sinfonia, Meridian Sinfonia, London Baroque Sinfonia, Arcangelo, Little Baroque Company, International Baroque Players and Pythagoras Ensemble, for whom I'm also Historical Performance Curator.
How much do you charge?
£40 per hour, £32.50 for 45 minutes, £25 for 30 minutes.
Where do you teach?
At your home if you live within Greater London or at my home in W9 London. I can also teach at the shop All Flutes Plus at Warren Street or The Schott Music Shop at Oxford St.
When are you available?
Various times - we can arrange a regular or flexible time for lessons.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
Age 7 upwards for flute, Age 5 for recorder. No age limit, beginners to advanced.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
ABRSM Flute Grades 1-8 exams and diplomas
ABRSM Music Theory exams up to Grade 5
University and College undergraduate / postgraduate performance exams.

I also prepare students for youth orchestra, music college and university auditions.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes, the school I work for organised this.
Where and with whom did you train?
I studied modern flute with William Sleath at the University of East Anglia and baroque and classical flutes with Lisa Beznosiuk and Rachel Brown at the Royal Academy of Music. I've also had lessons from Paul Edmund Davies, Jed Wentz & Wilbert Hazelzet.

- 20-something year old who got to grade 2 in school, has just passed grade 3 with distinction and is now working towards grade 4.
- 26 year old composer from a leading computer games developer who is learning for research purposes. He has just passed his grade 2 with distinction and is now working towards grade 3.
- 14 year old student with Aspergers Syndrome who is working towards her prep test
- 60-something year old who plays for her own enjoyment
Do you have a personal message for students?
My lessons are a mixture of musicianship, technique, history, knowledge and fun.
